If You Had 5 Minutes With a 6 Figure Marketer...

Wuts up everyone...

I have a quick question for you.

If a 6 figure marketer gave you 5 minutes to pick his or her brain...

What questions would you ask them?

I personally would like to know what's the biggest mistake that they've
made in their online business...

And what did they learn from it.

    Fred,

Very honestly, I would ask the person what was the single greatest contributing factor to their success.

Everyone makes mistakes. That's not what's important.

I think this sums up my thoughts as well.:

I'd rather focus on the positive and what's important than something they've done wrong and likely corrected

Depends on what I know about her ... if I knew she had to overcome limiting beliefs I'd ask how she did it
if I knew she had to go through a lot of failures I'd ask her what made her persist inspite of these
uh it's too hot to think about more things right now

First, I'd spend some time doing some background research on whomever I was going to be interviewing. Then I'd ask something very specific, and very relevant to something that person does or did.

    Keep in mind that:
    1. Making six figures is good, but not particularly impressive. It may qualify you to be a self-proclaimed conceited know-it-all on a forum such as this one, but it hardly qualifies you as a visionary, guru or even an expert. It just proves you've manage to piece together a small, but working business model. It doesn't even mean that your model is sustainable. And it certainly doesn't mean that you know enough about other business models to be able to offer profound words of wisdom to anybody else.

    2. Filtering who you learn from by the amount of money they make isn't necessarily the best approach. First of all, there are plenty of people who may not make much, but who do have a lot of really interesting and valuable things to say. Second, just because you're good at making money doesn't mean that you're good at helping other people make money. As alluded to above, teaching and doing are very different things.

    3. 5 minutes isn't really much time. Enough for pithy platitudes and very general but ultimately not-very-helpful if the conversation is kept at too high a level. But perhaps in five minutes (with enough research beforehand) you might be able to drill down to one specific story, one specific example that can provide a small nugget of value and insight that your users might find useful.

    4. You're already getting a lot more than five minutes of time from quite a few six figure marketers just by participating in this forum. Of course, you're also getting a lot of time from a lot more zero-figure marketers (including more than a few pretending to be six figure marketers), but if you're smart and stick around long enough, it's pretty easy to tell which people really know their stuff and which are just regurgitating what they've heard from someone else (take MASSIVE action!) or are just trying to promote their signatures by posting garbage. Similarly, read the news (especially -- but not exclusively -- business oriented publications). There is plenty of great stuff out there from six-, seven-, eight-, nine- and even ten-figure entrepreneurs. Find it, read it, digest it -- and then critique it. Again, just because someone made a lot of money for themselves doesn't mean they have anything useful to say about how you can or should make money.

      this is plain silly,

they are not going to give it to you...LOL

and 2) if you got five minutes they are just going to tell you to get free traffic and build a list, that is how some very smart warriors in here have gone from BROKE to doing over $10k per month.

You see, making money is about working SMARTER, and not asking how can I make money today, but asking where can i go to get more prospecting looking at my offer. When you can aswer that, then you can create any sort of income you wish for.

Which failure triggered them to take massive action?

I generally think, a vast majority of successful people are looked upon for their success, and rarely do people appreciate all the failures that somehow triggered an emotional (or heartfelt) decision to think inter-laterally and moved them in a completely... even opposite direction with a renewed vision or outlook on life... (not just money!)

Hence, my main question would be... "How the hell did you get out of your own way?"

I would ask them how many people ask them ridiculous questions relating to their success that could never be answered in 5 minutes outside of the most perfunctory fashion, which would be worthless to anyone that was truly interested in learning something.

With the remaining 4:30 I would find something interesting to do. Life is short.

    Cheers. - Frank

I would ask: "Do you know any 7 figure or 8 figure marketers that you can introduce me to?"

Seriously though - I would ask if they had to do it all over again, what would they do differently?

Since making 6 figures is good but not that impressive I would just ask them for the name of their website and how they generate their traffic.

Why? Because at minimum they have identified a profitable niche. I can now enter their niche, replicate them, then 1 up them. Leaving them as a 5 figure marketer.

    Hi
    I think I would ask 2 questions:

What sort of feedback, both positive and negative, you receive from your customers.

What is one strategy that is doable, cost effective, that you currently implement (other than outsourcing or paid advertising) to generate targeted traffic to your site/s or sales funnel.
