Posting Content For Traffic in 2016

Hi everyone,

I am researching the best places to get quality, targeted traffic by posting articles and content on the web. I've been looking around this morning and there seems to be quite a few interesting options.

My question is where do you find is a great place to post your content at the moment? I'm thinking of articles primarily but whatever sort of content will be interesting to know.

Please share as a think this list will be interesting and useful to quite a few people.

Many thanks.

Blog-posting can work really well, if you write high quality content, and get them posted on blogs with lots of relevant traffic.

You can re-purpose your blog posts into various ways. Think SlideShare, YouTube videos, even Instagram posts, tweets, Facebook posts.

I noticed someone mentioned Reddit and I want to say one thing in regards to that: posts with self-promotion can be very very tricky and you could do more harm than good if you don't add REAL value for the subreddit you're posting in.
There are many notorious marketing "fails" on Reddit, from AMA's (Ask Me Anything) to posts that have plunged into oblivion because they were marketing stunts and didn't add value to the community.

    John,

It depends on your business: market, niche, angle. This will determine the optimum type of content and where best to syndicate. It could be animated gifs spread across Reddit Subchannels, Facebook Groups, and G+ communities, or it could be 1,500-word info-articles, seeded on your own social and other traffic platforms, with the intention of your audience spreading the media. This is a huge subject and it really depends on too many factors to give specific help. A word of caution: be careful about syndicating your own content. Platforms like Facebook, Reddit, and most others, will penalize you if you over-syndicate (volume and time-frames). What I'd suggest, in general, is to examine your competition in SimilarWeb.com, see where their traffic originates, and then go to the source and try to find them. You can then begin the process of reverse-engineering and attempt to emulate, and in fact try to do things better. Best of luck.

    Thanks everyone. Some great ideas.

How about which websites you post content to? Article directories? Document sharing sites? What is working at the moment?

If your audience hangs out somewhere, you've found the right place to syndicate.

Article directories will bring you traffic. Just keep in mind that they cover a wide range of niches. Because of that you'll most likely get a lot of curiosity visits that aren't necessarily targeted traffic.

    Hi.

Have you tried writing an article then advertising it on myblogguest.com? That way, you should attract the relevant website owner to your article. Also, if you're not happy with the offers you are made, you can say thanks but no thanks and saving your article for any day.

Failing that, you might find this article useful, writen by Kim Roach.

Like what most o the above have mentioned, try guest posting on other authority blogs in the same niche. You could also transform your quality article into Podcast, slides, videos for YouTube and even infographics.

I've been looking at Document Sharing sites. Some of these have moved to a paid model.

I would be grateful to know which ones are still working if anyone is still having a positive response from them.

The way I do it is:

When I write an article, I turn it into a video and upload it on YouTube, and I email my list about it. I'm able to repurpose it in multiple ways.
