I'm new to IM and finally decided to take action. I setup a blog, wrote some articles and got them ranked well in google. I am on page 1 but in place 8 or 9. The keywords I am ranking for get 1.5-3K searches a month. I know being so far down the page I wont get that many clicks. The keywords I used are "borrowed" from high performing articles I found on ezine that ranked well in search. I assumed that the 5K+ view the article had gotten was from search. Now I am not so sure. A lot of people on this forum said to post your article on your site first, then after it is indexed post it article sites. I assumed they didn't do much promotion for the articles they submitted and used them primarily as a backlink. (Perhaps I'm wrong?) My question is: Is the traffic your article gets mostly from serps, or from internal linking from the website? I understand why it is better to host your own content and get it ranked but could I be missing out on a lot of traffic because I'm not promoting my articles too? I'm not sure what to do. I am still reaching for that elusive first sale. Also I seam to be able to get onto page one of google fairly easily but getting higher on page one is a bit more tricky. I've been backlinking with angele's packet. Is there something else I can do to help propel me to the top (or closer to it)? Thanks -Nick |
