Hi all,

I have a question. I come across a lot of people that are wondering what the benefit of having a custom built site that goes into a content management system like wordpress vs going with a wix or square space template is. I'm an internet marketer and build custom solutions for clients that they own and drive traffic to them using PPC and SEO. I favor custom solutions because they are easy to tweek because and do not have the limited access that a lot of these DIY platforms offer and they allow more intricacy in terms of building a top what is there. Besides that wordpress is seen favorably by Google because it's a content management system and Google thrives on that. All these reasons are good for me but how do I convince a client to come aboard and buy my services? Can you guys give reasons? Thanks

If true, I would speak about end results that most of your clients care about. It is about being careful about your messaging, and what truly resonates with people. It is all about them. If true for PPC and Seo, I would say I can get you seen easier, or get more eyeballs to your offering which may do X and X benefit for you. I can save you costs by doing it the way I suggest.

I favor custom solutions because they are easy to tweek because and do not have the limited access that a lot of these DIY platforms offer and they allow more intricacy in terms of building a top what is there.

<<For me as client, I am saying in my head why does it matter to my situation, it seems like more work for nothing, and it can be more complex when he hands this over to me to figure out. If I was you, I would try to word it in a way that ties into something they truly desire. Tie it something they want-like is it more visually stunning, does increase website vistor's perception of their business.

Besides that wordpress is seen favorably by Google because it's a content management system and Google thrives on that. All these reasons are good for me but how do I convince a client to come aboard and buy my services? Can you guys give reasons? You have to figure out their reasons and why it is good for them, and tie it to what they want if possible. Like to me as client, why should it matter to me that Google thrives on that? Many people are motivated by increased profits, sales, cashflow, image, etc.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Also I have a Wordpress site, but have often thought of going to Squarespace or Wix because of the simplicity, and less worries of how to fix that and this. I look for something to save me time because I want to focus on other things. Also if needed, you could include a maintenance/upkeep solution if nothing else works.

I just was asked to add content directly into a client's Square Space website, he was limited for time and so I jumped on and did it as I was interested how these sites compare to Wordpress (this is what I have for my site).

The website was really easy to use, save and update information and for a simple site, it is highly recommended. I was pretty impressed actually.

I have no idea how this site would work for commerce or a blog, as this was just a city yoga studio I was writing for, however it was a really slick platform and far easier to update than Wix sites that I have worked with before.

I'd recommend checking it out if you are starting out and looking for a simple and quick solution.

Morton, the number one reason to convince a potential client to use a self-hosted WordPress site rather than a Wix or Square Space is control. You have limited control over your Wix or Square Space website - but by having a self-hosted website - the sky is the limit - plus on a self-hosted website - you can create a sub-domain to use strictly for testing purposes for testing themes, plugins, software applications, etc. You can't do that with a Wix or Square Space website.
