New to online marketing. Where to start?

Good evening folks.

I'm looking to grow my niche in the music Industry. I have a website, social media (fb/tw/ig). email service, etc. set up and have done a few things utilizing automation tools like followliker/massplanner. . . .

My product is selling leasing licences for the instrumentals that i create.
(I've made some sales but not on a predictable timetable.)

Long story short, most of the things i have accomplished with the little experience i have, have come as I've discovered them (marketing wise). I feel as if I'm hitting a wall and hope that you all might offer some direction.

My goals are:

-identify/target consumer base efficiently/effectively
(currently using massplanner with less than desirable results. Could be the way the tool is set up for my lack of experience with it . . .)

Most of my current targeted traffic is coming from twitter, instagram and facebook

- grow an opt-in emailing list
(currently using mailchimp with ~ 50 subscribers)

On average I'm reaching about less than 1 new subscriber a day

-generate consistent predictable traffic
(Currently using Google analytics, WP analytics, and social media FB/TW)

With that all being said. If you were me and wanted to re-approach the marketing with a clean slate, what would you do next? Or what may i have missed?

    Welcome.

    Number one is there enough demand for selling leasing licences for the instrumentals that you create. Did you happen to do market research? Do you see ads when you put what you are selling in search engines?

      Yes. There's definitely a market for it but other uncontrollable/unpredictable factors (industry placements/endorsements/artist's preference in music) play a large part into the overall success of the product.

      A large part of what i have begun to believe is that it boils down to a numbers game. The more potential clients/artists you can get you music in front of . . .more potential for sales.

      Do you have a recommended method or methods of evaluating the market more effectively?

    That's a tough market. Your best bet is either targeting a highly specific niche (type of music and/or type of consumer) or teaming up with a video/games/apps creator.

      Thank you for the advice. Ill definitely add that to my plan and research it. Do you have any recommendations as to how to go about targeting specific consumers?

        I don't know what your music niche is, but if you want to start with a clean slate, first find out if there's an existing market - then create your product for them.

    Hello and welcome to the forum. I have learned a lot from it when I started off with SEO.

    For identifying your base customers check out Google trends and Buzzsumo for keywords that are trending as well as articles that are being shared most in your niche.

    Offer something to download a product or an eboook try MMR products in your niche and grow your list.

    GA and WP analytics are great there is also another for wordpress called gostats and it offers good analytics too.

    for this, and if you want an hobby business you should spend $50 a week on paid traffic.

    Want a better business you must spend i would say maybe $20 a day on traffic.

    if you are doing this full time its better to spend money on paid traffic from FB< solo ads, PPC, PPV, video ads, FB videos, insta, etc etc, and be paying about $100 a day.

    you will die if you do not do PAID traffic....

    what? you think people will just like your site, as soon as you upload it.

    Got excited and no one come ...huh?

    well...yes, going viral is for the big wigs, doing paid traffic is for smart marketers.

    You need to realise that early on in your career. The more you spend on PAID traffic the better.

    Now I spend lots, but you need to start off small and build it up.

    Do you think the BIG millionaire markets are wasting their day on FB, or twitter and writing articles, and free traffic.

    No, these guys are spending $1000's a day on PPC, on PPV, facebook, Media buys, integrations marketing, and JV's.

    You will not see a millionarie online doing FREE traffic, free traffic is for hobby farmers online. You need paid, as it powerful leveagable, and you can turn in ON and OFF like a tap.

    once you realise PAID traffic is where the big money is, and you can develop something that can give you good results, you can scale it all up, and put 40% of your profits back in to paid traffic and make a crappy little site, a nice $10k or $20k or even $500,000k a month business.

    My advice on this one, would be to ditch Mailchimp before you get too much further into building your list. .. depending on how you propose marketing to your list, Mailchimp are well known for shutting Internet Marketers accounts down.

    Get a free trial of Aweber or Getresponse .. if your serious about your business, the small investment needed to continue with a paid account will pay dividends in the long run.

    Wouldn't it be easier to sell on Audio Jungle? They've already built up the traffic looking to buy audio.

    You should get a coach. Don't let people discourage you. One of my friends Jamie made $1 million from his beat leasing site a few years back.

    If I were you I definitely would be focusing on YouTube video ads and Facebook video ads to build your list and following. If you're on a tight budget then you have to keep putting out samples. I would check out Superstar O on youtube. From my understanding he doesn't spend any money on ads but it took him years to build his following. You can get their in weeks with paid ads

    Leasing license doesnt exactly scream "wow i must get my hands on this". I narrow down on my target audience. Find out where your people hang out and get in front of them. Facebook ads might be effective for you as you can really narrow down who you reach.
