Fulfilled By Amazon - Is It Worth It

Hey guys,

So I have a fairy popular video course that sells quite well as a download. I focus primarily on digital products at the minute however I'm looking to diversify my income a bit.

Anyway the plan is to possibly start tuning all of my more expensive video courses into phtsically shipped dvd's and using the FBA system.

Any of you use it and if so are you doing anything similar? I'm probably going to give it a go anyway just wanted to see if anyone is actually doing it themselves and has any tips or hints.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Why? This makes no sense to me.

Well I was thinking that they'd sell a few copies being on amazon too so thought about stocking them with amazon and letting them take care of the delivery process for me.

Brent, It is beneficial to list products for sale on every marketplace that maintains its own search engine because this will increase exposure.

Steve, Rather than start with FBA, have you considered FBM using Kunaki.com? This way you can approximate the sell-thru rate before creating a physical product..

I sell digital files and want to be everywhere possible Amazon, eBay, Tradebit, etc. including those that require a physical product be shipped. Also, an upsell on a digital only download to a physical product can increase sales.

Al is correct, DVD is a gated category. (There are services that can assist with getting permission if your application is not approved.) Also, since 2014, any DVD with an MSRP over $25 requires separate approval.

I guess it's a case of "Is it worth the time?"

I'm not saying it isn't, you'll have to decide.

I don't think anyone buys DVDs anymore. However, if you are sure about that, I would definitely go with Amazon FBA.
FBA makes sense to me because it gets rid of all the process of going to the post office every time you sell something. Plus, the shipping rates are better than what you get in a post office.
With that said, you necessarily have to sell the stock in less than 1 year after you ship it to their fulfillment center. After that, the fees get crazy.

Actually DVDs do still sell OK. Yours would be different than a movie DVD of course. Having your own product will pretty much eliminate the competition, al least for you specific product. IMO it make complete sense to put some of your inventory into FBA. I expect you will go fine.
