Over the summer I watched as several Programs I promote cut commissions more and more.

What is the mentality of the program managers?

Gee we need to make more money lets cut the pay of our commissioned sales force who is already working for free?

So I dumped several long time partnerships... because they no longer see me as a partner. Why should I take a cut in pay? I'm the one generating the lead, the customer, and the revenu?

Smart Business People understand when sales are down you don't cut off the hand that feeds you.

Another very annoying trend is the "Impossible Tier".

Sell 1-50 get 2%
Sell 51-100 get 3%
Sell 101-100,000 get 4%
Sell 100,001 get 25%

The tells the affiliate marketer we don't give a sh** about you. We only want to work with the Giant Corporations.

Anyway, pick your partners well. Sometimes it is very worth promoting the lesser known brands because they simply pay better.

    Isn't that the truth.

If people would think a little, and get out of the IM loop (CJ, PDC, eBay, etc ...) and look for independent companies, it wouldn't take them long to figure out that it's the indendent ones that pay the highest rates, and people trust them more when their name is involved.

Why settle for 3% when you can have 8 -50%, or sometimes higher?

Btw, yeah I've noticed the cutbacks too with some of the networks, but I do know the independents are staying like they have been.
