PayPal Checkout On Clickbank Salespage? Not Worth Promoting?

8 replies
Hey guys,

So I've put a product together and there is a Clickbank product that would really add value to what I'm offering.

So the plan was to add a link to it inside my guide and add a couple of messages to my follow up series.

Only problem is I never normally do anything like this. In fact I have never promoted as an affiliate. I always use my own products because I'm greedy and want all the money myself.

Anyway I'm debating making an exception for this one but... When I've gone though to the payment page it is a PayPal page with no Clickbank branding.

Doe's this mean they've stopped using Clickbank as a payment processor and are not worth promoting... Or is this allowed on Clickbank?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Steve

    When I had my product on Clickbank they certainly did not allow people to use PayPal exclusively. You can purchase products through PayPal using Clickbank though (I hope that makes sense).

    The whole point of using Clickbank is to use their payment processor and be listed on their marketplace.

    That would be very strange if they are using PayPal buy button exclusively and their listing is still in the marketplace. Unless they're hiding their Clickbank payment button on another page and funneling Clickbank affiliate traffic to the PayPal buy button to avoid paying affiliates.

      Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to just contact them or clickbank and see what's going on.

      Anyway thanks again.

    Which means that Clickbank will NEVER be notified of the sale (much less process the payment), so the affiliate sending traffic to the page will NEVER receive commissions for the referral.

    Yes

    No, but CB has no way to determine when one of their merchants has replaced the CB order button on the sales page.

    Sounds like the vendor is trying to cheat off his affiliates - definitely do NOT promote that product!

    Before rushing to judge - there's a slight possibility that the vendor uses Paypal for his own sales and ClickBank for affiliate sales. Clicking on the affiliate link will prove it.

    ClickBank do allow you to bypass their payment page and link direct to Paypal so long as you set it up correctly.
    It is clearly allowed in their rules.
    Payments are still processed by ClickBank with all the usual ClickBankness, including charges and affiliate payments.
    They just allow you to go directly to PayPal rather than having the extra step of the ClickBank payment page.
    See https://support.clickbank.com/entrie...al-Direct-Link for details.

      Very true, but I would emphasize (as you stated) that the possibility is only slight.

      From the OP...

      I assumed that he arrived on the sales page using HIS affiliate link

      The problem with your statement (and Clickbank's own representation of the facts) is that the link to Paypal is NOT direct.

      From that document:
      1) If you’re running a localized Pitch Page, you can simply provide a payment link that includes the country’s 2-letter ISO code. For example:
      http://item.vendor.pay.clickbank.net...ypl&country=XX
      "paymentMethod=pypl" denotes that customers will be taken directly to PayPal. "country=XX" denotes the country the customer is in.

      <snip>

      2) The other is a PayPal Direct Link for customers who have already decided they want to pay with PayPal.

      <snip>

      To do so, your PayPal Direct Link will need to offer the necessary parameters in the following order:
      http://item.vendor.pay.clickbank.net...ypl&country=XX
      Notice that in both cases, the link is to Clickbank. After collecting the information needed, CB then links to Paypal.

      The Clickbank order form never appears, but the order button code can be checked (using "view source") on the sales page to determine whether or not CB is involved in the payment process (and therefore whether or not the affiliate will receive credit for the sale).
