Two IM things that are getting monotonous [or maybe I'm just jaded]

10 years I've been at this.

The rhetoric in sales letters is just a plain turnoff these days!

Do you want to make 200% more sales from your website?

Could you use another 10,000 visitors a month to your website?

Dull Dull Dull!

I suppose there must be some folks who respond to this inane rhetoric........but not me
I just click away.

Fake scarcity!

We keep being told that scarcity will improve conversion.

I have proven time and time again that honesty and transparency work way better that scarcity. Especially when that scarcity is obviously false [as it is in just about all cases]

"I have this amazing secret system that is making me millions, so I thought I would give all my secrets away for $7 but only to the first few....."

Let's be frank.....if you have a secret system that makes you millions, honestly......who in their right mind would want to give away the secret for only $7 AND have the nerve to try kidding people that there was a limited supply of said info.....I mean.....c'mon get REAL.

It's no wonder that shiny object syndrome is so rife in the industry.

OK mini rant over...sorry I just had to say it.

    I Absolutely agree with you!

Nowadays most marketers do whatever it takes to get you to buy whatever they are offering, they don't care if it's False Advertising, Fake Scarcity, Unrealistic Promises...

I keep seeing this everywhere, Sales pages that have BIG Black And Red Fonts infront of your face, and the typical 'From The Desk Of Helisell' or 'Dear friend, you are not getting results because'... etc.

To the extent, that when I see - A Sales page that is different from these, it FEELS like a great relief.

This is why there are too many high refund rates, because of the hype and BS.

I believe Honesty and Transparency is far better than the hype, and it's usually more effective at getting long-term clients and repeat customers.

Those lines and tactics are used to draw in people who buy based strictly on emotion. Obviously you're not the target audience. But they're used to hype people up, get them excited and make them want to buy.

Here's a perfect example: "I used to be just like you. I was struggling with internet marketing too. Then about 2 years ago, I stumbled upon a secret that changed my entire career..."

Obviously this is complete BS. But you see this line used in almost every IM sales letter. Why? Because it allows the reader to connect with the sales person. They fell like "This person knows me! They know what I've been through! They can relate to me!" That establishes trust. And you're more likely to buy from someone you trust than from a complete stranger.

Emotional buying stirs you up and makes you want to purchase something you probably don't even need. Obviously it works, so people will keep using it.

I agree that it's annoying. Once you educate yourself you shouldn't fall for it.
