WHY IS FIVERR SO SUCCESSFUL?

Hello guys!

Lately I have been thinking quite a bit about Fiverr. Why is it so fiercely successful? How did it manage to steer clear from its rivals oDesk, Elance and Freelancer.com? What made it so goddamn special?

What do you think? Give me one good reason: WHY IS FIVERR SO SUCCESSFUL?

Thanks in advance! Let's get some discussion rolling.

Because of its simplicity. Small tasks, low amounts per task etc. Their competitors require endless amounts of texts to read and write and have difficult navigation, endless amount of work for freelancers to bid, and endless amount of work for buyers to read through all the canned bids.

I agree, also on some sites people from some countries just auto-bid (spam-bid) without looking and then the employer has to figure out who read the job or didn't then they start looking at it only when you reply it's horrible. On fivver the employer just buys the job that is way better then how the other sites waste peoples time (both the worker and employer) it's just stupid.

User interface is nice and working. Only $5 is also very good marketing trick although many (good) things are much more expensive there with extras.

    WHY IS FIVERR SO SUCCESSFUL?
The exact same reason Subway restaurant was so successful with their $5 footlong sub campaign.

Little Caesars Pizza restaurant had the same $5 success. Even If they break even they still boost sales on upsells, like $2 soda, etc...

Most people have $5, it's nothing.

The power of the Internet baby... To most people in poorer counties with no work and weaker currency $5 is worth a lot, to most people in 'first tier' countries $5 is very affordable so fiverr bridges that gap and provides a win win situation.

First it's about supply and demand. Fiverr is a very low cost introductory price to solving a problem! Think what somebody like Fiverr can do for you if you are offering something honest and in a good niche. Say embedding soap bars with a photo or text while charging shipping as well as offering extra's to increase your average sale price.

I always tell people this, there are different approaches to business and success.

You can choose to serve the higher class and charge them higher or serve the lower class and charge them lower.

I have seen these applied all virtually all facet of businesses such as autos, clothings, tech (laptop n mobile) e.t.c... Overall, the producers all make the money irrespective of whom they serve (Low or High Class).

Well, i think they figured out what the majority of people want and gave it to them.

    1. It's cheap.

    2. Majority of people in all the continent can afford it.
And they provided different mode of payment unlike the bigger players who will only give their users PayPal and if your country is not supported by PayPal then you are ineligible.

    3. The offer a wide range of services.

Another important thing is, they have money to invest in marketing and got the experts behind them and doing it very well too.

    4. They crave for success and not afraid to take chances unlike most people i have seen who wants to make money and not ready to learn or commit time to it.

Well, i can go on but that's just about it.

    Cheers

Fiverr is successful because of great marketing look at the hook get anything done for $5 so people will naturally want to use them.

So when you get something done for $5 what happens the upsells if you want it done in one day pay a extra $5 oh you want me to write this many words for you pay me a extra $10.

so as you can see they get you with the get anything done for $5 but in reality you end up paying $5-$50.

Fiverr is more successful due to low charges as $5 for an extraordinary work but the main scenario is specific clients expectation also talented freelancers than other freelance websites.

Of course Fiverr is successful, especially for the sellers, and even more especially for the owners (for all the reasons already mentioned above), but I don't see much value in it for buyers of internet marketing services. For example, I have NEVER had a single result with any sort of traffic purchase, no matter how much the gig seems to promise, and no matter how many "positive" reviews are posted, etc.
In fact, most of the time you have to review the purchase before you have any idea whether it was a good one or not, and then all you can really say is how fast the gig was delivered, did the seller communicate, etc. You don't yet know if you will be satisfied. To be honest, I feel cheated and scammed 95% of the time I use Fiverr. Yes, it's cheap, but who wants to keep wasting money? Plus end up feeling like you can't believe a word any marketer says? (I'm only talking about internet marketing services here)
I paid for an email swipe the other day from the top seller on Fiverr in that category, the guy sent about 6 lines of garbage which proved that he did not even look at my offer, and when I caught him out on it he quickly offered to cancel and refund (lest I post a negative review) - I don't feel like a "valued customer" on Fiverr, I feel like live bait.
Yeah, I know, you'll tell me to just avoid the place, then. Okay. Serves me right. But in that case, what's it good for?
    Just sayin'.

Business like to worry about their bottom line. Why pay $2,000 to a designer for a logo when they can pay $5?

Why pay $100/hour for a SEO audit when they can pay $5?

Why pay $200 for a 5 minute voice over when they can pay $5?

Because most people aren't serious about their online businesses and aren't willing to pay for professional services.

$5 hits the sweet spot for the most somebody will spend without giving a crap about the results and the least someone will take to perform a task. I like to call it the "Crappy Services Equilibrium Point".

I agree with all the comments above. The issue I mainly have with Fivver is they don't encourage like Amazon - people leaving negative reviews so buyers become more informed. Basically Fivver vendors will prefer to cancel and offer a refund so they can only retain positive reviews. For one I simply refused the refund in order to leave the review as is, even though I tried to balance both positive and negative.

The other problem with Fiverr these days is every man and his dog wants to be a Fiverr vendor whether they really have the skills they promote or not; and so for people who even pay for upsells means it's really hit and miss whether the vendor is good, bad or totally indifferent.

I also detest having Fiverr vendors call me 'friend' when they communicate as if this is somehow supposed to be more 'personable' - better to address the person by name or by their username and stop pretending they're everybody's friend - only a friend if you pay and put up and shut up is my experience.

to me fiverr is the chipotle of the internet. They do one thing cheaply and easily.

Odesk and elance are intimidating! its like going to an authentic Mexican restaurant and ordering in Spanish without a menu!!!!

Fiverr on the other hand make it one price, one button and one gig (whatever gig u happen to want).

thats why fiverr is rocking the hell out of it.

PLUS they have a vibrant support forum for Gig providers.

People have covered it well here. But lets just remember that Fiverr is not a small operation. It is ran by a large company. It is not something a one man internet marketing operation can run.

I believe Fiverr is successful because they offer certain products that are in high demand. That and the fact that they are in essence the first provider of their kind, that offer services on such a broad level.

On the Sellers Side it is an extremely low barrier to Entry as far what you have to do to get your Product up and running and getting some Exposure to a large amount of Traffic.

Of course that is two fold in that it makes it so extremely competitive with every Tom, Dick, and Harry selling there

    It's a modern-day slave market.

The majority of the man-made structures on the planet were built with slave labor. Now the Internet is following suit.

Slaves have always been money makers.

As people said above, is because fiverr is so cheap $5 dollars. You can find some good gigs for the price but also you can find really bad ones like the traffic gigs. So for the price that you pay you cant expect too much.

  • Most of the time one hire freelancer for small works only. If one need for long time, most of the time he will hire a permanent worker. The Fiverf small gigs is for $5.00. It is the main reason to success in the Fiverr, I think. There may some other reason also. Thanks

Fiverr is successful because it's simple, inexpensive and the barrier-to-entry is pretty darn low. Many of the services offered are in-demand and for $5, very affordable.

It is simple. You don't need to negotiate the price, you do not worry that you paid more than the service really cost. It is always $5: yes or no.
