Good backlinking & traffic building guides for 2016

Hello fellow warriors,

I've been slowly building up a YouTube presence and decided that I should start driving some traffic to my website (which has been monetized through Amazon and will soon have my own e-commerce). That being said, I'm entirely sure what the "hottest" methods are for building traffics and backlinks to your site.

Back in 2012, I had managed to spread backlinks by simply going to blogs/forums and posting relevant comments. Is this still applicable or would you recommend a different strategy?

Any tips on how to build traffic are welcome.

Note: I'm primarily looking for organic methods which I can use to build a following over a period of time. I don't have a big budget, but paid traffic might be an option.

    Well, the 'hottest' and 'most effective' method is still an oldie but a goodie... DROPPED DOMAINS

    It appears that Private Blog Networks built to pump link juice to target sites are not going anywhere anytime soon.

    You might want to start there.
