Best place to sell a new homemade product

Hi all,

I have an idea for an arty-type homemade product. I want to establish the best place to sell it, whether that be:

1. My own website (that I would create).
2. A site like Shopify or eBay.

I suppose I could start with a third party site and then create my own site?

I was thinking that the product would be well suited to Etsy.com. Would this be a good option to start with? Or are there better websites to use? Just hoping to hear a few opinions and thoughts really.

    I think you should do a little research and see if similar items are selling and where they are selling well.

    For example, if they are selling well on amazon then you could go there and come up with a unique selling preposition to stand out from the crowd and attract customers to your offer.

    Likewise you could set up funnels on your domain and do drop shipping or use a fulfillment center to handle the shipping for you.

    In my opinion Etsy is a pretty nice e-commerce site to sell your product because basically majority of sellers over there have products that are hand crafted and vintage in category.Therefore your product can easily adjust among the competitors.Apart from that the site attracts more than 20 million active buyers annually.You just need to pay a minor fees to the site per product( which last I heard was around $0.20 US) and you can start your business.
