Does this system work?

I am going to create a few free sites on wordpress, etc.. and then post a couple of posts to them. I will then bookmark them with 10-15 social bookmarking sites and create links back to my main page from these sites. Will this help me move up on the page for my keywords? Are there better ways to get pagerank that are free?

man, there are tons and tons and tons of ways to get backlinks which will increase PR, just do some searches on the forum for back links and you could work 8 hours a day for the rest of the year and still not exhaust the methods. You have the right idea though. Try to be as diverse as possible, there are a heap of different web 2 sites around now, programs like se nuke can expedite thep process but they cost moolah!

Wordpress.com frown on promotional blogs. Why don't you host your own? Or if budget was tight, try other web 2.0 properties like Squidoo (they have new affiliate policy but still a great site), Hugpages, Bloggers, Weebly etc.

Creating backlinks from bookmarking is not enough. Use articles directory as well...

Check that the links that you go for are not 'nofollow' links. They may gain you some traffic but they will not help your SEO.
