Need your help with Squidoo....

I have tons of squidoo lenses but none of them see any traffic. I'm curious: What do I need to do to get my squidoo lenses ranking higher so they can get SE positions and traffic?

Thank you in advance for your kind answer,

David

I'm not very familiar with Squidoo myself but you may want to invest in Tiffany Dow's Squidoo ebook. She's a member here (I think her username is Tiffany Dow) and she's got a link in her signature. Seems to be the go to person regarding Squidoo. Or hopefully someone else may offer some insight for you.

    Good luck!

A lot of people don't believe me, so you might want to try an experiment to prove to yourself this is true. Google will only serve up two pages from any one top-level domain for any particular search.

Try a search for "general motors cars". Do you have any idea how many pages GM has on its web site? Still, only two GM dot com listings will be found on Google. I haven't tried it, but trust me--it will be true.

So pick one of the products you promote through Squidoo and see how many Squidoo lenses show in the first 10 pages for the exact name of the product. Forget long tail keyword searches--just use the exact name of the product. There will either be zero, one, or two Squid lenses showing--no more.

Now, suppose two Squidoo lenses show on the first page of Google for the product name. This is where affiliate marketers get confused. They think they are competing with a thousand other affiliates for to Google rankings--they are not. If you've optimized your lens for the exact name of the product, you are competing with only two other sites--the two other Squidoo lenses showing for that search term.

If you can't beat one of those lenses out--which you can if you do it right--it doesn't matter how good your lens is--it will never show on Google--ever!

So here's the big tip: If there are two strong Squidoo lenses showing for your search term, forget about trying to out-do them--go with a Blogger blog or a WordPress blog hosted on your own domain (best option).

Most people don't think of this--but a huge advantage of a WordPress blog hosted on your own domain is that you are not subject to the "two listings per domain rule" that kills a lot of great pre-sell pages on free blogging platforms since no one else will have pre-sell pages up on your domain.

Doing this will greatly simplify your job. Good luck!

Building backlinks might get you knocked off Squidoo, they've started getting very strict, which is a shame but here is top tips.

Take part in the community, visit other lenses and leave comments "blurbs", especially lenses that are linked to from the higher PR pages. (Google crawl from high to low)

Then interlink your lenses so they get crawled by the searh engines better and pass along juice to each other.

      Build backlinks, articles etc.

Also I like to comment on blogs when I am on them and leave a link back to my lensmaster profile.

      Hope this helps.

Creating a lens is not enough, because you have to promote it. I see creating a few lens back when Google was in love with the squid, but now - no way.

The one good plus is that the squid can pass pr. OK use that PR to pump up your own web site.
