Hey all
![]() Hope you're all fine n' dandy... Just interested in your opinions on this issue. Do you use double opt in or single opt in for your lists - and have you tested it? Simon |

Hi Simon,
You will literally have to test yourself as it depends entirely on your niche. Just go ahead and do one. However, from experience you get more subscribers from single opt ins. But not always more buyers. Double opt ins results in more buyers per person emailed. You will really have to test. Are you newsletters/free content good enough to convert those non buyers into buyers? You have the power! Let us know how you get on. Mike |

Question about starting a list: isnt it true that you are supposed to have an address and phone number at the bottom in order to be 'legal' in the US?
What do you do? I dont want people calling me---simple solution Im sure, but thats why Im asking. |

Definitely double opt-in, i always believe in prevention rather than cure. I rather risk losing a few potential leads than lose credibility with anti-spam organizations. Getting a black mark on your name is not worth the short term profit.
Regards, Edmund

I generated about 80 leads yesterday and because of double optin i only got 44 that confirmed.
Just don't send people crap. Always send them to your own content first before directing them to an offer. prospects get bulk loads of emails everyday. (This is in the link building/freetraffic niche.) In all my emails i have links to my facebook, twitter, blog, youtube channel. This way they remember me better. |

I have always used double opt-in. I get better deliverability and more profit per subscriber on my list which, is what I care about it.

I use double opt in with aweber. Never thought of single opt in because of the spam laws. Not even sure if you can single opt in with aweber.

You can; you just have to turn it off on a list by list basis at the page where you configure your optin message. There's a button you can click to toggle it on or off. That said, I think double optin is the way to go for all of the reasons previously mentioned. Charlie |

Good point havplenty.
As for you goingup - I think if it's for having your own business then definately put in a phone number. This will build trust. You won't get as many phone calls as you think either. But, it all results in sales. I suppose if you really really don't want to speak on the phone you have 2 options. 1) hire someone from somewhere like elance.com or 2) buy a skype line with voicemail and record a long message providing information (for whatever reason they're phoning for). But, I can only recommend being professional and including your phone number and actually talking to people. This also helps you find out info you may need to change. |
