Default Would appreciate advice on how to keep track of keyword research

Hi all, my first post so apologies if it's not in the right place. So I've read a lot of keyword research threads in the forums which are super detailed. I'm hopefully a week or so away from my first niche site experiment but the keyword research I've started doing is threatening to spiral into a mess of words and scribbles on paper! (very addictive)

So I'm asking how do you keep a track of all your keywords? excel spreadsheet, notepad, with sections for search result numbers, page ranks, how people searching, long tail and so on...

Any tips would be appreciated so I can get organized
