Ok, I know this is a simple question. I made some SEO Adsense site and all I do is bring traffic and fix adsense placement to increase CTRs. I built a lot of sites and now I am planning to sell digital products online using a blog.... with ads leading to a landing page and autoresponders to presell. I just encountered a new term. "Mini Site" How will you define this to a person like me as I really did not encounter this in my 2 years of building adsense sites. Thank you so much for all the replies. |

A Minisite or is a humble site, commonly a single web page, which provides a lot of diverse functions. Some of these sites are simple “opt-in” signups for newsletters or Ezines. They feature just a little bit of information about the newsletter and may have a domain name that matches closely in name to the newsletter. Since they take up little space, they’re often very inexpensive to purchase. Or they are easy to create. If you need one, there are plenty of Designers at this Forum who would do it for you. Jimmy. |

A mini site is generally a single-focus-- possibly single keyphrase focus-- website. It may have one page or 100. Generally, I think, at least 10 pages might be right, but it depends on your purpose. It might be put together in HTML or WordPress or you can even do one in Blogger. Popular warrior Steve Wagenheim sets up separate Blogger sites with only 1 entry for each product linking from one of his articles. Mini sites often depend on articles or other non-search sources of traffic, since their size doesn't command a lot of authority. However, if the URL and site name are a good keyphrase, they can rank pretty well sometimes. Heres a good mini-site tutorial I ran across just yesterday: How to Build a Profitable Niche Site in 27 Minutes Wade Watson |

A mini-site is a site the focuses on one product and it should be very specific. The main purpose is to attract highly targeted market and should influence the visitor to take an action. The design of a mini-site should be as simple as possible. The title should use the most important keyword and most likely in lower case to be more effective.

It's very subjective indeed. I know that some people mean "one-page site" when they say "minisite", but I've also seen (in excellent WSO's bought from highly respected Warriors) the term used to refer to sites of up to about 30 pages.

The question becomes what are your objectives? If you are trying to building a list you only need one page with an Opt-in form and an Autoresponder. My point is, on this Forum there many Marketers who built a business with just that. If you are referring to a web site like “about.com” then everything else is a min-site. The last time I checked then had over 1,000 pages. Jonathan Mizel who is a member of this Forum is a big fan of a one page web site. He built his business that way. And for that matter so did I. Good luck, Jimmy. |
