What Would YOU Use This 4-Letter Domain Name For?

Hey Warriors,

I have a 4-letter domain name that I am considering developing. I have an idea of what I would like to use it for, but am interested in your thoughts.

The domain name is: LOGR.COM

What do you think?

Funny. That is actually one of the things I think of when I see it sometimes, too. (Lord of the Rings)

I don't want to share my thoughts on what it could be used for or what it means yet, as it would likely bias the feedback. I'll share a bit later on, though.

      Thanks!

Yea, I have seen that before. Doesn't seem like there is much of a niche for "logistical ratios" though, does it?

Phonetically I see LOGR as LOGGER.

Is there IM money in logging?

Create a new Acronym that would mean something. A PRL report site called LOADS OF GREAT REPORTS.

Use a script and create your own TINYURL site --- can be for your use only. There are free and paid scripts for this type of use.

I have a LLLL domain that I use for email. I have it hosted with 1&1.com and can have 1500 POP email addresses tied to it. Create throw-away email addresses for things you don't want to give out your true email address. Get rid of gmail (it is getting spammy) and host your own email.

I sat down with my dictionary and researched tons of words for each letter in my LLLL domain. I combined the words to come up with ideas for a site theme. I still have not developed the site beyond using it for short email addresses.

Thanks everyone for your great thoughts so far. It is nice to get some new creative thinking when you need it!

Like Bob, I see it as "logger" as well. It reminds of the recent rage of "web 2.0" domain names that take a word and remove vowels, or add an "r" to the end.

My original though was to create a site that was designed to be a "log" of your online life. It would be a place where you can see all of the comments and posts you make across the web in one place. So, posts on a forum, blog, facebook, twitter, etc.., would all show up there.

    Keep the ideas coming!

Lol when I think of "LOGR", I think of Australian Beer/Lagar, specifically, Foster's Lager.

That's only because I used to think that Lagar was spelled "Logar".

Anyway, there's a hot series on TV about Loggers - any way to do a take off it? Then sell logger tools and stuff as an affiliate like chainsaws, etc ...

There's a large market for that kind of stuff.

    Just some thoughts ...

I too see it as Logger - there's lots of chainsaws on amazon to promote or anything of the woodworking variety. Or as someone else mentioned maybe log home plans if there's an affiliate site out there.

    Good luck!

I'd imagine "logr.com" selling for $x,xxx easily nowadays, unless domaining was affected by the recession/depression much. Just saying, in case you couldn't come up with anything. (Don't quote me though, DNForum would be a good place to start.)

Lots/Loads of Great Reviews, am sure that's been said before though... hmm...

A spin off of the short URL service would be a place specifically to log your short URLs. Sometimes I create a few at a time, and I don't want to bookmark them all (pronounced "clutter!!!"), so usually I make do using Notepad or pasting them all in the Google search on my toolbar and not hitting enter lol. Not sure this could catch on though.

Site users could save logs of important conversations (phone, instant messaging, web-cam, Ventrilo, etc.) either privately or publicly for X days. Market to lawyers? Prank callers? :p

    No idea, sorry.

I immediately thought of "Logger" as well...I was thinking of a keylogger - the software that secretly records every keystroke that is typed on a computer and records it for later viewing.

.Maybe you can offer a keylogger software, but differentiate yourself from the other one's by marketing to husbands that want to catch their wives cheating online & vice versa...I'm sure there is a market for that..

    Thanks Warriors!

You have given me some new ideas that I had not thought of, mainly the "keylogger" software, as well as the blog hosting service.

I probably wouldn't consider trying to make the initials L.O.G.R. stand for something unless it was the initials of an existing business that wanted to buy it. That is just not the angle I am going for.

    Any more ideas?

First of all I would like to say, it is a very good domain name. The reason I tend to side with the bloghosting service idea is because of logr .org which is trying to do the same. So you may get a little bit of type-in traffic from them too.

Again as it is a brandable 4 letter domain, any niche would suit it.

If you want to take a look at how others have developed their 4 letter and 5 letter domains then check this thread.
