I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to do this, please help: I'm getting email notifications that people are "registering" on my wordpress blog (self hosted). I don't see where in the admin to "authorize" or "not authorize" I know this sound like a newbie question but I'm not sure what to do, if anything. Now I know I want people to sub to my aweber, sub vis RSS, even sub via feedburner email, but why are people "registering" if they don't comment? Perhaps they were looking to see if I have comments moderated? my blog is a PR2, maybe I don't need to do anything if they wanna "register" but don't "do anything"? thanks |

I would personally get into your settings and stop people from registering all together. If you're not running a membership site, or having contributing writers, there's no need for anyone to register at all. It's a big security risk to let people have access to your back end. You can block registrations under Settings > General by unchecking the box "anyone can register". You can delete the users you don't want under Users > Authors & Users. Give em the boot! |

In addition to what Kezz says, I would recommend checking your version of Wordpress. I believe that the default is to not allow users to register and if you have that on, either you switched it on or the wordpress version is old .. (Upgrading usually takes care of most known exploits)
