What do you guys think of my website / marketing suggestions

First let me say hello to everyone, this by far seems to be the largest user community around for internet marketing so I joined up ..

My company has launched a new venture to sell ink & toner supplies in Canada (we do not currently sell to the USA)

the website is mytonersupplydotcom

Please let me know what you guys think of the site design and the landing page.

We are mainly looking to target small businesses and photographers who do their own photo printing (as well as consumers). We can't heavily compete in the ink market, but we are looking to heavily focus in being aggressive in toner products (which is why we mainly want to target businesses first as they are far more likely to have a regular need to toner).

I am also preparing my first outbound e-mail marketing campaign :
which looks like: hrm .. can't post a link
I am not finished with it yet, I need to add a paragraph about our company and a footer of sorts to the bottom for un-subscribe and so on.

In anycase ... feed back is appreciated / ideas on how you think I should go about targeting small business is also appreciated.

also my newsletter .. can be viewed at

my domain / 1.html -- let me know what you guys think, I want to keep it fairly simple, not too busy.

Hi Tcalp and welcome to the warrior forum!

Your site looks good. Lots of things to make a potential customer feel warm and secure in buying from you, the comodo icon, the SSL secure banner, all the brand names, live support box, etc, it all looks good.

Perhaps you could add your phone number (toll free number would be best) to the front page somewhere? Not all that many people would use it but it adds just one more "safety blanket" feature.

The big 'free next day delivery' banner is great too.

The only other thing I would say is that the 'Toner & Ink Finder' box at the top wasn't immediately obvious to me. Too start off with I thought it was an ad for something as it looks a little different to the rest of your site, plus I'm used to seeing banner ads in that sort of position.

I mean it only took a few seconds for me to realise it was a search feature and maybe I'm just a little dumber than the average bear, but making things really obvious is the way to go.

But overall a really nice looking site, well laid out and you should do well with it

    Cheers,
    Ben

It's a bit busy-looking for my taste. Having said that, it still has a professional look about it and, who knows, might be exactly what the target market is used-to/wants.

    Good luck with it.

    Hi tcalp,

It does seem a bit busy, especially at the top. I understand why you want to advertise all of the brands that you stock, but perhaps the logos could be a bit smaller?

Also, either the page is too wide, or my firefox is messing up again (which is perfectly possible).

Other than that, it seems like a well designed site. It looks trustworthy, professional and businesslike, which are all the right boxes to tick in the business to business market.

    Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments so far guys

re: search bar at top --
yes, At first this was the only search measure we put in place, but later added the 'Left navigation with text based links that result in the same response as selecting in the combo box at the top. So while the top search may not be 100% obvious to everyone there is also the text nav on the left.

    re: page is too wide:
I know!! this was my boss, it was initially designed to fit into a 1024x768 , but he had me expand it. I do plan on moving it back down to a smaller size (at some point soon).

    re: busy ..
I get what you guys are saying, and I agree on some level. The funny thing is -- without all the brand logos at the top the page look boring/bland (once your off the main page). Maybe I will consider removing the brand logos off the main page ? .. but then it won't be 100% obvious of what brands we sell, or at least less obvious. ... hrm .. will think a bit on this one.

Whoa! Boy, did that site smack me in the face when it came up.

What is your goal with this site? What do you want your visitor to do first?

You need to take the visitor by the hand and walk them through it.

I didn't know what to do first.

Do you want your visitor to:

      * use the toner and ink finder?

      * chat with live support?

      * choose free next day delivery (even though they haven't bought anything yet)?

Remember -- a confused mind always says, "No!"

The biggest thing that stands out is the fact that you are not capturing your visitors' email addresses for your ezine.

If you don't capture this by offering an ethical bribe, the visitor is gone and may never come back, which means you just lost your chance to continue to market to them, over and over, with their permission.
