How to advertise a affilate website?

By this I mean if I wanted to setup a site tht I would use to promote amazon products through their affilate system how could I promote as they cover such a wide range of items tht if I wanted to sell loads of theirgear surely I would need alot of keywords to ensure people found my site for tht specific product?

Any suggestions would be welcome

    If you're new to it you should focus on one product or product genre first, one you have a passion for. Then you can focus your keyword campaign around that as well. Later you can expand.

    Yeah, find a niche product and match it with niche traffic to get the best results.

    Write a review (or ask someone to write it for you) about your affilliate product and put it up on squidoo (high PR site).

    Then, use that squidoo link on top of services like free traffic system to drive massive amount of backlinks to your squidoo review (of course, related keyword 'words' is important here).

    And... Viola! Watch the sales come in about 2 months time (or less).
