Howdy Warriors,

I'm asking about how to maintain persistence and continuity working online specially when working on a new website ( creating content, promoting articles, building some links etc... ) normally I start with big enthusiasm but I lose it in a matter of days and neglect the whole project any ideas ?

Of course. There is nothing abnormal with that! It takes work to keep that way. That is why you must have goals written down on paper and something to follow. Also you need to surround yourself with motivated people and TOP people in your marketplace and personal life. You can use Youtube and watch motivational videos for success and stuff like that.

I made an in depth-analysis of a really good productivity program but I can't post it here because it is on my blog and people go crazy every time I post something because they think I'm selling stuff.

But I highly suggest you google : wake up productive review & summary

Seriously this happens with most of us. A lot of determination is required for that. Set goals before getting started and give yourself a timeline for everything it will surely help a lot.

I think there are 2 factors why this happens to a lot of us.. 1 is that we get excited about something new and then after awhile we find something else to get excited about and again and again and again.. then the original exciting ideas seems old and unexciting.. the other things is we don't set a target date to achieve the idea that we have.. so my advice is.. 1. Tell yourself that you're going to stick with this one single idea and focus on it until you finish it. Remind yourself everyday and make it a habit to do a small portion of work every day even if it be 10 minutes.. 2. Set a date... 30 days you'll achieve your end goal. Mark it on your calendar break down the steps you have to do each day and mark that on your calendar again.. Always go back to your calendar to remind yourself what you have to do that day or what you've missed the day before.

You hire people, put pressure on, outsource everything that can be outsourced

Long time ago a friend of mine told me, if you want to be a CEO, you better act like one, you can't do everything.

For each business I had since then, I don't do it all, or I wouldn't pull anything off

This is actually quite normal. As for me, in the beginning, I would find a comfortable place to work with. Set a timetable and always be punctual. And then, when my business started to grow, I would outsource most of the dirty works. There are several websites that you can try:
    - Freelancer.com.
    - Upwork.com.
    - Textbroker.com

Of course, never outsource something out of your budget and keep the cost in control. Good luck.

It's what separates the Winners from the Losers/

    Working through the lulls.

I use Visualization. I look into the future and realize the pride I will have when a family member or relative asks how things are going with my Online Business.

Or how my kids will ask me if they can take a trip to the the store to buy some nice things for them for Christmas or B - day

And I can be proud to buy them what they want

    As does everyone, my friend.

Personally, I like to plan each day, create a structured, yet flexible routine. Setting aside time to do certain tasks, and time to relax, which helps a lot.

Also, try setting a couple of short term goals for every week/day. For example, each night I consider my workload, schedule, other things in my life, and plan how many articles I'm going to write the next day. Or how much time I will spend developing my website. Maybe decide on a topic that I need to research and study.

Putting a time-frame on things activities helps me to get them done.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Think about what you want to do and how you want to do it before jumping in next project. If it's really good and logical thing to do then stick to it and continue. It sounds simple but it's incredibly important. In fact it's the reason between successfully earning and not earning money on the internet.

Have your ultimate goals pinned up somewhere in view, what are you doing this for, what do you want to achieve and will the work you are doing help you achieve it? Of course it always helps if you enjoy the niche you are working in and if you enjoy building the sites too.

All good tips from our fellow warriors, I would add - and this is simple; Have you found your WHY? If you have then - is it big enough? That's the real thing that will keep you committed and motivated. You should be proud that you are actually recognising this and that you want to change your mindset. If you have a big enough why and you have it written (hand written I find works best) and you refer to it at least twice a day, this will stir you on. A visualisation board above your workstation - or if you travel a lot, as I do - Take my Vision Book with me. Refer to it everyday, visualise your WHY as if it was already accomplished - FEEL how that makes you feel, if that doesn't motivate you, it's not your real WHY!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10809853].message }}
  • A lot of people talk about needing a why that's big enough to carry you when your enthusiasm wanes. While I do agree with this, I know that for me personally that's something I've always struggled with. So for me, being consistent comes down to removing my emotions from the equation, and just creating a systematic routine that makes sure I get everything important done each day. That way you're not dependent on your enthusiasm to get you to go to work, you just do it consistently until it becomes a habit.

That's one of the better quotes I've seen!

To the original poster, I would say that is the hardest thing starting out(taking action with blind faith). Once you improve your skills, you will gain confidence and won't need to rely on enthusiasm as it will be replaced with confidence knowing you will suceed

Make a schedule and stick to it.

Plan what you need to do day by day, and make sure you are following through. Don't stop for the day until you did everything on your list.

The best way to stick to something is to have an accountability partner. Could be someone doing the same thing or maybe a group of people pushing each other to achieve their individual goals. It's always easier then you have someone to hold you accountable.

You have to find out when and where you are most in control of yourself.

We are very automated creators that live stressful lives (at least i can say for america) and are surrounded by distracting, entertaining things that keep us safe from having to engage in deep thinking.

For me, back in the day, my room was the devil in disguise. I couldnt get ship done.
My remedy was going to a cafe.
But doing that after 2 days still fussed up my mind.
So i did reading/research (light work) for the next day.

Have 1 main goal for the day -- a definite action. Especially something scary (like launching a new ad campaign on $50/day test).

It helps to take 1 leap a day and consider it an accomplishment.

slow strides make huge glides (trademarked).

Derrick is also right, having a partner can help immensely...

however, if hes just a piece of slip, he'll drag you down. Your effort goes down, your mental state goes down and emotional state goes down.

But a good partner can make you as productive as 2 persons.

it also helps that youre honest with yourself and your partner.

If you both aint Whoopy-cats, you'll call each other out when one is lagging or screwing around.

There has to be a boss-mindset in you.

Too many guys these days are all about what the other person feels, even if that person is causing problems.

  • To keep you motivated while on project, irrespective of what sort of work it is, you must have a set plan for every task. Since there is no higher authority to do this for you, this must be taken care of by you as the whole responsibility lies with you when you work online. To push yourself and maximise your productivity, you should keep asking these questions to yourself on intervals when you feel stressed or tired, why are you doing this work? Is this to earn for your kid’s fees? Is this to pay a medical bill? Is this to pay a rent? This should inspire and motivate you to achieve the end goal

Hey, stop believing in motivation and start believing in self-discipline.

Motivation is getting off the trend now. Self-discipline is the new thing in town.

Motivation is temporary. Self-discipline is permanent.

Motivation is a heroine - it makes you dependent. Self-discipline is the protein you take daily.

Make schedules, follow instructions, take notes, stand by your rules, learn to say no, identify distractions, beat them, and you will achieve persistence.

    Thanks

Absolutely agree with this. Motivation does only so much. You have to make taking consistent action a habit.

There should always be a goal that you've set, that you have not yet achieved. It is a natural tendency for human beings to lose motivation along the way in anything they attempt to do. This is because they have lost focus on their objectives. But by far, the greatest challenge is to overcome anything that entails quite a steep learning curve when attempting to use the different techniques in your online marketing career. To my knowledge and experience, the majority of people lose their steam when it comes to learning. Learning is tough and it takes time. Most people tend to "work around" it instead of diving headlong and master the techniques. Don't make that mistake. There's no easy way. When it comes to learn, just take it seriously. You'll be glad you did it.

Keep an important goal that you have at the forefront of your mind, and remind yourself that the work you are putting in now is going to help you achieve that goal.

If you become overwhelmed with some tasks, you can always consider outsourcing them to ease the load.

You get up in the morning, you start working. When you feel like quitting, you do not. Rinse and repeat.

I don't even understand why you'd ask the question. If the question were: how do you make it easier, that I understand.

The answer to that is: break thinks into smaller units. When you're done with one unit, pat yourself on the back, then start on the next unit.

I always thought this was one Key Way to keep things on Track. You really cannot look at the Project as a whole. At least for me it seems to daunting. So you break it up into manageable tasks

This is my take away from thousands of hours of self help audio books - FOCUS. Avoid distractions. This take tremendous will power because we think responding to e-mails, texting, etc is production. It's counter productive. You need to zone this stuff out and put your phone in Airplane mode until you have completed your tasks. Hard but you can do it!

Hi! Definitely as most have stated here, make a goal...use the SMART goal technique...Specific-state exactly what you plan to achieve Measureable-make sure the plan can be quantified. Achievable- it needs to be able to be completed Realistic-the goal has to be simmering that you can see and believe will happen Time bound-the goal has to have a due date. Once you have created your goal, you need to plan a time each day that you will work toward your goal. Then you must set a reminder, like in your calendar, so you will be reminded each day to work on your newly created website or other important projects.

True that. I currently freelance as an article writer and sometimes while handling bulk orders I seem to get bored. But I overcome this boredom and distraction by remembering the people who entrusted me with their work, how much I am going to earn when I finish the said projects, what I will be able to do with the hard earned cash etc. Always think about your end goal and that way you can stay motivated. My end goal is to be rich and be someone to whom people can look up to.
