They call themselves "sites that pay you to blog" but the reality is that actually you're paying them. The money out of which they pay you a proportion is typically money that your blog has earned, and they're splitting it with you.

If, instead, you own your own blog, guess what? You get to keep all the money your blog makes instead of just being "paid a commission out of it", not controlling your blog, not owning it, having to comply with someone else's changeable terms of service, and having no remedy if it disappears, gets axed, or if someone else's business goes under.

I can see that these places do have their uses to some people, but be aware of the arrangement you're getting into, the fact that you can do better on your own, and that they're not always quite what they appear to be. That was the end of the public health warning, normal service will now be resumed.

But they still pay you to blog ... or? That's what I get from the posting title. Nothing says in the title that you will get rich from it. And what holds you back not to have the same or a similar posting on your blog too?
