What Is This MindMap Software?

This is the best most neat and tidy MindMap I've ever seen and need to minmap my current workload so I can stay more focused.

So far I haven't found one as neat and tidy.

Hope it isn't expensive.

That's a good one - my guess is that it's XMind, or Omni-Graffle.

I remember seeing you use one Andy on one the Stompernet video where you can expand/collapse nodes and that looked really good, what was that one?

      Regards

garyyk1968: The one you're referring to is probably Personal Brain:

TheBrain - Mind Mapping Software, Brainstorming, GTD and Visual KM Software

The mind map referred to in the original post was done on http://bubbl.us/

There is a free one called FreeMind that allows you to expand and collapse nodes that I have found very useful

Gary, there's a bit of a story there...

I used MindJet's Mind Manager 7 for Mac. That's what I used to create the mind map for that presentation.

The WINDOZE version of Mind Manager is on something like 8, and frankly, it's a more mature product.

What you saw in that video was me using the Windoze version of Mind Manger 8 in "Presentation Mode" - which lets you step through each of the nodes one click at a time.

So, I've got a Mac and Windoze license of Mind Manager - I made the map on the Mac side, fired up VMWARE Fusion on my Mac, ran the presentation in MM for W, and used iShowU HD to record the VMWARE screen on my mac.

        See how easy that was?

From start to finish, including making the mind map, recording the presentation, very light editing, compression and upload, the 40 minute video took about 5 hours to do.

  • Xmind is fantastic. Whenever I start a project, I ALWAYS start off with a mind map in order to have a mental structural picture of the whole thing. It really helps me visualizing the creation process.

      Hi,
Over the last 10 years I have tried many different Mindmap programs and for the last 2 years have been using Tony Buzans iMindmap which is brilliant. It uses the mindmap laws better than any other software I have used. Unfortunately when I am at work I cannot use it as I am unable to download the software onto my PC, which is a bit frustrating.
I have tried many different online Mindmap applications, but none of them felt quite right, Mindomo, Mindmeister etc.
I have recently been using an online web application called mapmyself, which at the moment is in beta, and looks like a stripped down version of iMindmap. This mindmap software has a lot of potential, is easy to use, and you can create some fantastic mindmaps.
For now, you can only use it with IE, however if you use Firefox you can download the IE add-on. You may also need to install Microsofts Silverlight application.
      Regards.
