Are You All Getting Ready For Christmas Niches?

I'm pondering over stuff people buy at Christmas, but looking for the high end items such as PS3 etc, although I don't even want to try and tackle that niche, it's extremely competetive and I don't think I want to battle my way through it.

Here's to getting ready for Christmas...

What all sells now and on the way up to Christmas?

I suppose everything but some stuff more so than others.

Input Ideas below.

Mark.

Quick Tip: If clicks are expensive or overcrowded for a particular product in one country, take it to another.

When the PS3 came out, I was getting 5 cent clicks on google.jp. Plus Amazon allows you to direct link from straight from the store there.

I was ready for the Christmas niches 8 years ago

    One word:

    KIDS

Parents buying for children are HUNGRY peeps.... it pains me to say this, but watch TV for an hour or two in the next couple of months and you will get a boatload of direct product ideas. If it's advertising on TV, it's ripe for the picking in my experience..

    Peace

I'm luck enough to not to have to watch the TV, plenty of kids at my house every day of the week. Must get round to aksing them what's hot and what's not!

    Jay,

Ripe for picking via what method, PPC?

(Unless I misunderstood post above about Amazon, they don't allow PPC driven traffice anymore - unless you are saying they do allow it in Japan)

It's only Amazon.com and Amazon.ca that don't allow direct PPC traffic anymore. All others are free game.

Amazon still allows PPC traffic, but not direct link to Amazon...you have to send the traffic to your own site first (I'm speaking of US).

This is probably what you meant - just wanted to clear it up.

I think if you find a product that is below the radar but which you expect to get a fair number of searches, you could do ok.

Otherwise, how can you compete with Toys R Us unless you are not depending on search engines?

      Thanks for the early reminder.

I've had a Christmas domain for ten years. Every year, I start thinking I need to use that site for something. Usually, I think of this too close to Christmas. One year, I did get an early start but then got sidetracked until it was too close to Christmas again.

Instead, I've just had "The Night Before Christmas" on my site for ten years...

last year I went to the grocery store or the a book store and looked at all the magazines to see what was popular.

      Especially in the gadgets.

Oh and if Oprah likes it then so will millions of other women!

We know kids don't like video games so I wouldn't try that

September is about the right time to start gearing up for the holiday season. For many retailers this is the time of year we make most of our money after all, so thinking a little ahead of the game is a good thing.

I started working on my adwords campaigns for Christmas last month.
Now I'm working on "Game Baskets", (instead of fruit baskets).
This way a parent can buy an entire series or group of games at one time at a discounted rate.
Last year "overnight delivery" was a big hit with a few extra bucks to be made there.

I did fairly well with my razorgator affiliate selling event and concert tickets also.

With the economy in the shape it is I have been thinking about strongly promoting Used Games seeing how they are currently outselling new products 2 to 1 anyway.
