What do you need to have to get affiliates excited?

Hi,

I was wondering... Say I wanted to approach a clickbank affiliate with a product/service I have. Obviously, since they probably get unindated with tons of offers on a daily basis (especially if they are successful), what would I need to convince them to sell my product? Or at least get them interested/notice it?

    High commission rate, assure them that your product has a lesser chance of getting refunded, hypnotic sales page and lots of online persuasion techniques.

    Obviously, as mentioned above, you need to show the affiliate what he/she gets out of the deal. Be sure to include conversion rate data.

    However, a good affiliate also wants to know what his/her customers get out of the deal. As such, you need to give affiliates free access to the product and let them know why their customers will like it/how it will benefit them. You may even offer the affiliate's customers an exclusive discount or bonus offer -- that way the affiliate looks like a "hero" to his list.

    First of all make sure it's a good offer and well worth their time. Not trying to be offensive here, just make sure you have tested everything and you know it's good. Too many people jump for the quick buck and ruin long term JV relationships.

    Second, it always helps to have built a relationship with these folks prior to asking.

    Third, Simply ask yourself what do you have to offer really? what separates you from all those other offers they get? Why should they pay attention to it? This doesn't always have to be money, leverage your resources.

    Forth, yes, high commission and ROI always helps.

    Fifth, *Important* you want to offer a commission that is good but also I just wanted to mention your focus should always be on "what can I do to help this person? How can this benefit them?"

    As an affiliate myself.. I only require these things from a merchant:

    a) A sales page

    b) A product that solves a problem for my chosen niche.

    c) A way to contact you if necessary.

    d) Conversions stats where possible, but really, this isn't a deal-breaker.. I'll have my own stats within a couple of days if they aren't available.

    I can do all the rest myself, anything else is a bonus.

    The contact you bit is quite important, I don't contact many vendors, some of them who get thousands of customers from me.... but it's good to know that if I want to create banners or do anything a little "out of the box".. that I can contact them to talk things over and make sure they know what I am doing.

    50% commission on the "main" product, plus a commission on all sales made
    on the back-end during 6-12 months.

    Now from the technical point of view, not sure it's easy to implement.
    It depends on the automation system that you use, etc.
