Hey Guys,

I am writing this to seek your help in understanding what else i can do make my Amazon Affiliate - Online Money Earning lil more pleasant. Here is what i have been doing and seeking help for,

Prep & Execution Or Background Or whatever it is ... :
I have setup a (Amazon Affiliate)website on a Niche which has got good amount of expenditure (by others) and popularity & personal interest(I am comfortable to speak about this more than other niches). Since i work on online earning part time, i took very long time to get to the position where i am. I was not interested in spending money to hire writers, so i did everything by my self.

SEO:
I made sure that i followed some basics of SEO, but may not be that deep, structured my posts for better readability, engagement, etc., included images, headlines with keywords, videos, internal linking, external linking, etc., (Not started dealing with finding related sites and partnering with them though, so no Backlinks). It if matters, my posts are a minimum of 1000 words & have 22 posts (may not be much), 5 mandatory pages (About me, Privacy policy, disclaimer, etc.,), 6-8 portfolio posts.

Traffic:
  • Now the site is up and running since past 1 month with almost no visits. When i checked my site stats in Google Analytics, i see little to no traffic and looks like the site is relatively ranked low in USA but higher outside USA (like Mexico, Indonesia, France, etc.,) Below are stats for US if that matters,

    For USA - (Total Clicks - 2, Total Impressions - 22, Avg CTR - 9.09%, Avg Position - 28.6)

The products & keywords that i chose have very good search ratings (more than 5k for majority of them, i just chose mix to better deal with competition)
  • When i checked SERP rating using 'serplab.co.uk' for certain keywords, my site is not ranked in TOP 100 for these keywords to begin with.
  • I was using different promotion methods like Facebook & Twitter. I have created a page, joined couple of groups and liked a few more relevant pages & started posting in their timelines every day and able to get a Total reach of 202 with engagement of only 11 and looks like even this isn't helping much. I am working on Twitter & Pinterest posts right now.
  • Not able to spend more time for Youtube yet, but is my next priority. It's just that i need to Spend much more time now again to prepare videos or atleast slides.
  • Tried Bing Paid Ads for 5 days since i got the coupon when signed up with them, with no luck.

With all the above said, can you suggest me what can i do differently to make my site get more traffic? Is SEO the only option or is there something else that i can do? (Btw' my site is not approved by Amazon yet since i haven't been able to generate any sales till date). I hate to start spending more time either on this site or other without knowing the result for my efforts for past 6-8 months. I have learnt so many other things during this journey, but may need to focus on specific things from here. And this is where i wanted to seek some direction.

I would be happy to share my website & fb page, i just did not include here to avoid getting this post removed for any rules violation.

Apologies for the long post, dint realize it would end up this long, but wanted to give enough info before i seek help.

Thanks In Advance !!!

    hey there

    • SEO to rank a certain keyword can take up to six months
    • You may have search volume but your competition might be too high!
    • They could have 100's of backlinks and a higher domain authority!
Just some things to think about!

Thanks ... But domain authority may take longer and is interlinked to backlinks in a way. Looks like, i need to work more in this area.

  • Dumped Amazon years ago and they would have to pay me to have anything to do with them. Never made a cent with them.

Hi, I'm in a similar boat with my website, it's more than a year old and gets about 10 visits/day. Just like you I wrote all the articles myself and interlinked them using a plugin. Have no backlinks and have just done basic on-page SEO. I too seeked advice about my website few months ago but can't find that thread for some reason.

Now here are things I've learnt or understood about the why the website is a failure:
    * too much competition (can't rank on page 1 for literally any article no matter the quality or number of backlinks, competiton simply too established)
    * Lack of authentic images
    * Lack of personality in the site (the quality of blogs has improved so much that simple blogs with little personality do not get substantial pageviews)

Here are my tips for you:
    * The competition you cannot change, I'd suggest doing thorough research before writing an article. Focus less on search volume and more keywords with less competition. Getting ranked for a bunch of shitty keywords is better than getting ranked at page 10 for good ones. That's my opinion.

    * Don't give up. Keep posting articles, try to reach atleast 50 in the coming months.

*Lower expectations: 1 month is simply not enough for a site to make money! Keep it at, if you've done everything you've said you've done, I think in 6 months you should be seeing money, with Christmas coming (if its related to your niche) you could see money even sooner.

Finally, even my shitty site managed to make $60 in a year. I almost recuperated my investment on hosting and domain. But I did waste a lot of time. My final advice would be to give it atleast 6 months of effort before giving up.

    Thank You,
    Craig.

Thanks for the tips and yes, i will try the to find some more low competition keywords. But SEO seems not gonna be a quick way, if not done right.

Stop killing yourself with SEO. Drop $5 or $10 a day on Facebook ads and build an audience that is after the info you are providing. You then have a regular readership to market to over and over again.

Thanks. This is something i wanted to give a try. At this point, i am trying to understand how to play this game correct, while spending money, else .. may fear to loose more than earn. With my lil try on Bing, i ended up getting just 15 clicks with a campaign that ran for 3 days. So, definitely it looks like i need to learn something better before i spend more. My understanding is, it would be same with FB as well.

You can't be afraid to spend a few dollars. Spend $100 or so over the course of a few weeks and learn. Make changes and go at it again.

At the risk of seeming flippant... Is your site any good?

Lots of people seem to be under the impression that they can throw together a slapdash site with little to no value to anyone, wait for Google to send them gobs of traffic, and then watch the money roll in. I find this thinking is especially prevalent with so-called "Amazon review sites" where informational content is far too often poorly written, unreadable it's so laden with keywords, and doesn't really answer the questions that real use have anyway. And as for the the reviews themselves, they're often completely useless to customers too -- after all, Amazon already has tons of great reviews that are detailed, unbiased and well-written. Why do people need a "review site" to do their shopping?

Obviously, never having seen your site I'm not saying that this is your problem, but I do think it's probably worth looking at your site from the point of view of a customer. Or better yet, have some friends who might be the type of customer who should be interested in your site use your site, watch them use it and then ask them about their experience afterwards.

If your site sucks, your traffic is going to suck. Guaranteed. On the other hand, if your site is really meeting a need for your users in a way that other sites aren't, building your traffic gets a lot easier.
