What Internet Business dont require a LLC or SSN?

Hi,

I want to get started in internet marketing and I would like to consider a model that dont require, at least at the beginning, the opening of a LLC or having your SSN involved (like if you want to be an Amazon seller, for example)

This is for simplicity reasons only, I think it would be easier to keep it simple,

Does anyone have any suggestion?

Thank you

I'm not sure of any legit businesses that exist that don't ask for your SSN before they pay you. They need that so they can report your earnings to the IRS.

You don't necessarily need an LLC unless you are making a good deal of money. You will want an LLC once your business picks up because without one if you were to get sued for any reason your personal assets would not be protected.

Off the top of my head I really don't know of any legit online opportunity that would be willing to pay you without having your SSN.

You'll never find anything (other than illegal yard work, perhaps) where you are not required to have a social security number in order to make money. All businesses are required to collect the social security number of anyone they pay anything to - online, offline, whatever. Without it, they can't write off the money they pay to you as a business expense.

You definitely do not need an LLC, though.

Sorry, I was talking about what you can do legally. Most people do not realize this, but when you sell things on eBay or Craigslist regularly as a home based business with the intention of making a profit, you are required by law to report that income AND to collect/remit sales tax to the state if the item was sold to someone in your own state - even if it is a used item and has been taxed before. People who buy from you who are located in other states are required by the laws of those states to pay sales tax, themselves, to their own state if you did not charge them it. (Few people obey the tax laws.)

As was said you don't need an LLC, but you will need to keep accurate records as all income is taxable.

I've done it for years doing affiliate marketing as a sole proprietor without an LLC but I still claim all income on my taxes.

Physical product sales are a different animal because of sales taxes. You will need to get expert tax and business advice from a professional on this issue, just to keep yourself out of hot water.

You can't have both if you want to work with affiliate programs on a larger scale. Some will let you sign up without this info, but will require the info before any payments are made. If you do not want to create a business LLC, which is pretty cheap to setup in most states, then you will be operating as a sole proprietor and will need to use your SS#. If you want to protect your SS# and don't want to give it out, then form an LLC and apply for your EIN/Tax ID # and then you can use that instead.

Like everyone mentioned before, there are no businesses that can pay you without your SSN or EIN on file. Even if you went the route of selling goods online, there are taxes that need to be paid and its not worth trying to avoid them!

      yup this is true.

SSN, and EIN are different out of america. But even so. Its one of those things the master of the ship needs to take care of.

You could sell things you create yourself.

Or if you don't create them yourself, you could buy PLR (private label rights) products and sell them yourself via blogs and social media posts.

But if you do sell things yourself, you will have to have a payment processor like paypal o stripe and they will ask you for a ssn or other tax id.

if the payment is digital, it can always be traced. maybe you dont need to provide a social security number to pay pal, but in order to get money into your bank account from online commerce, your banking information is exposed and so is ur routing numbers and social....

and if you sell snake oil online and start earning 100k a year via digital payments, you will have to declare it and pay taxes on it

          ok i got it. The goal I have is to make $500 a month only to pay some bills;

thats why id rather choose a model that dont require excessive burocracy and headaches

treat your approach to online commerce like a business and it will reward you like a business should. you might be surprised to learn that internet marketing can provide more then just bill payments....

The real question is do you want a business or just a side hustle?
What would you do if you made more than the $500? You don't want to get jammed up with the IRS coming after you for unreported income.

How on earth does providing an 8 digit SSN number constitute "excessive bureaucracy?" That doesn't even make sense.
