I have always been a bit of a nut about tracking my development time. If I am able to do it faster with same quality than I always thought that that was a good thing. Normally I'd write it down in my notebook just by writing start and end time. I found a great little service called PayMo.biz and they have great time tracking features - along with a Widget to track from your desk top. The best part is that you can make reports or Time Charts which show you the project and task along with start/end time and you can add a comment. This is great for creating a very readible log for future use. I thought I'd make a post about this, because after a few weeks of using this, I was shocked at how little I actually work!! Feels like I work 24/7 but when I tracked the time when I actually clocked in to do work it was only a few hours a day! Hardly even part-time hours.. Encourages me to start filling up those missing hours to get more done. Maybe you should try and track your time? Maybe you are working too much or like me working too little! |

I never track time. Gave that up when I stopped working for someone else years ago. Some days I'm not aware of what day it is or if it is the weekend. I work a lot, but I work when I want and don't work when I don't want to.

I just recently finished a volunteer project for a nonprofit organization. I had to track my time because since I wasn't being paid, I needed to make sure I wasn't spending too much time on it and neglecting my other projects. The exercise was very helpful because most of the time I learned that I was spending more time than it felt like I was spending. Now it's gotten me interested in tracking the time I spend on my own projects. Because when you have no idea how much time you really are spending, there's little room to make adjustments. |

is and some may not be happy with how much hours they are putting in. I do understand from going to a 9 to 5 to a home based business online. But I don't think I have ever had a job.. I started doing the online thing when I was 16 now I am 21 and need to work much more because my new rent bill requires it ![]() Also, when I click the "Start" button for tracking my time it does put me in the mood to start working, because after all the clock is ticking! | |

I don't necessarily track my time but I do give limits on each part of my product creation. I use cool timer (free/share ware) and when the timer goes off I move on to the next part of the project. It keeps me from second guessing myself and allows me to complete projects much, much faster.

That's actually a good idea! Automatically switch tasks when the timer goes off. Do 25% or 50% of a bunch of tasks and then go back to the first one, I'm gunna try that |

You are a great source of entertainment for me. Thank you PS I mean this in a light-hearted way so if it offends then there must be a little truth to it. |

I probably spend 5-6 hours working, my break time is email, forum, pms. and they do take away a lot of time...but it is fun |
