What if I offer to pay for anyone to get a tattoo of my artwork?

Several people have said they want a tattoo of my artwork, what if I offer to pay for it?

I think the main goal would be to get some stories in blogs for giving away free tattoos, but also I could get pictures of the tattoos to use on my own blog and social sites.

Is that a stupid idea?

But how would I do it? How would I know how much it actually cost and if they actually got the tattoo and so on?

Thanks!

    Bleu,

Your post caught my eye. Out of the box thinking - love it.

I take it that you have a blog selling your own artwork? If so - the tattoo idea? - absolutely cracking idea.

You need to leverage the idea for maximum effect, and there are a good handful of ways to do that.

I'll give you the first that springs to mind, since it's a tactic I often use myself in a slightly different way: what you do is JV with a local tattooist who has a strong Facebook following.
    • Scour the local tattooists on Facebook.
    • Approach the one with the highest following.
    • If that flops, go to the second best, and so forth.
    • Offer the JV (see below).
You're going to offer the tattooist a means of growing his following, and in the process helping you out, too. You ask him to setup a competition. His followers have to complete several actions:
    • Like the competition post.
    • Share the post.
    • Go to the artist's page and like it.
    • Comment about which tattoo they would like for free.
NB: You setup a photo album on your FB page and you call it Free Tattoo Competition. You upload 1 image at a time into that album, watermarking them A, B, C, etc. Be sure to pin a How To update about this to your page.

The winner will be randomly drawn on such and such a day, 30 days from now. (Which gives you and the tattooist plenty of time to ramp up growth.)

You do that, bleau, you AND the tattooist will benefit from page growth.

And, whilst you're doing the above, continue to manage your FB page to encourage further growth.

    - Tom

The way I look at the offer is may not be the best way to have people tattoo your art work only because of the health reasons involved, unfortunately it only take one person to pick up something from the tattoo needle and you may be in a world of pain just my 2cs
