Need suggestion on OTO redirect

I have a query related to OTO.

Which is better doing from below 2:

1) After a user clicked 'add to cart' for my product, should I redirect him to make payment first and then redirect to OTO1, OTO2 etc..?

2) After a user clicked 'add to cart' for my product, Can I redirect him to a Page OTO1, OTO2 etc. and at end he will make final purchase for all the added products in the basket.

Please let me know your suggestion on above?

They have to pay first IMO, then redirect to the OTO.

You can test to do all the OTOs first and the payment, but I know for sure that you won't be getting better results than just doing it the normal "proven" way.

There are a few ways to do this.

The first way is ideal because only those that have made the commitment to get the first product will see the OTO1.

And you will be able to take home some money as well.

The second way probably wouldn't work out so much.

But idea could still work just used a different way and thats by placing order bumps on the checkout page where they can just add to their current order on the page.

SamCart allows you to do this but you can only add one product.

But if it were me I would go with your first option.

SamCart has also implemented a re-input details form at the end of the OTOs if the charges fail for whatever reason.

Also, if a customer agrees to an OTO then abandons an OTO that follows, that agreed to OTO is still charged. If it fails we send an email linking them back to the checkout page to try again.

    Take the money first.

You can always put an order bump on the order form for the first product and if the bump is simple and easy to understand then it can increase the initial purchase.

A simple way I use that strategy is offering to mail the physical copies of the product they are buying. . . for example. . . get a hard copy just pay shipping.

Th method 2 you outline is more suited to customising a physical product before finalising a purchase. . . i.e. . .options. . .

    Best regards,

I would do it the first way unless a physical product that can have added extras.

Most of the market that are purchasing online products understand that there are oto's. First they pay for the basic, then see what the first added extra is?

The first way also guarantees that they have made a purchase before seeing the oto's.

    I agree with Oziboomer

I want the initial sale. Sometimes having someone on your buyers list is more valuable than the OTO sale
