When you do your keyword research and check for the number of competing websites do check the keyword in broad phrase or exact terms? and Why? I use phrase but I am not exactly sure why |

You should check all three in my opinion and aggregate the data by listing the top 10 results for each in Excel and researching them thoroughly. Check indexed pages, do a site:url search to check their indexing and optimisation level, check inlinks, PR, domain age and anything else you can using the tools you have avaialble to you. Alex |

| TomWood, there is only one true way to check your competition, and that is to look at what's already on the front page. |

I want a good keyword researcher, not for min sites but for tech articles. Hit me up if you've got those skillz!

For quick keyword research I typically type the keyword in Google with quotes around it. I then go to Backlinkwatch: Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch and do a backlink check on the top 10 websites. If the keyword competition is relatively low and the top sites don't have many backlinks then I consider this to be a good keyword to target... for easy top 10 rankings. |
