Backordering Domains-I think I got it

I have been trying to get a certain domain for quite some time. The person that was trying to sell it for some outrageous price let it expire so I put a backorder on it through Godaddy.
Well today the deletion process completed and now my Backorder for this says:
Capture in Progress.
This backorder is locked. It cannot be assigned to a different domain name, nor can it be removed from this domain name.

I also see it is now under one of Godaddy's registrars control.
So, am assuming that I got it though they are taking a terribly long time to tell me. Well, hours.......but it feels likes days

I have never backordered a domain before so can anyone confirm that this domain will belong to me in a few minutes or hours?

The domain is crankybitch.com

Thanks!!

Godaddy is notorious for "allegedly" stealing domain names. They are sneaky about it. I had nothing but trouble with them and stopped using them years ago.

Just my 2 cents. Do a search "goddady stealing domain names" and you'll see...

There's a certain perception that if you go and check GoDaddy's WHOIS database to see if domain names are taken, the available ones are often registered by someone else within 24-48 hours, and it seems too common to be chance.

It goes like this. People go and check a domain name to see if it's available, and it's not. So they check fifty different variations, and find two or three of those available, but those domain names kind of suck. So they don't register any of them, and wander off to think about which one to choose. When they make up their mind and come back, the domain name they wanted is gone.

Personally, I say it is chance. You want a domain name, and it's not available. Neither are most of the variations you check. Clearly, a lot of people want this kind of domain name. It's pretty damn likely that someone else is out there looking for it, too. If they make up their mind before you do, game over! You don't get that domain!

And personally, seeing that there's obviously a market for these domain names, I'll just buy them all and sell the ones I decide I don't want later. Duh.

Godaddy is not an exclusive company. your log in information will work at go anything domains .com (for example, your godaddy log in information will work at gocanadadomains.com and at goaustraliadomains.com etc.) These are turn key affiliate stores that pedestrians on the street can buy from godaddy for 79.99 a year. They enjoy the same phone help you get from a godaddydomains.com situation. They dont know who they are exactly. Which means there is no loyalty among the phone help people because they are the phone help for every turn key store godaddy has ever sold. (try this, call godaddy's ARIZONA phone number and say your calling to compliment gojapancity.coms affiliate storefront color palate 480 505 8877.) I guarantee you will be able to log into the phone help for any fictious name, using your godaddy log in and pin. Therefore, each time you call in, (and you never ever ever should,) change your password and call in pin instantly!!! or one of these red neck, Arizona river people, phantom phone help people will take your info, your domain backorder ideas, and everything, pass them to their friend outside the business. Drop the name due to this or that, and backorder it themselves.

    HomeComputerGames,

It is NOT possible to "backorder" domain names. SORRY! They thought about this but, last I knew, they just said NO. BESIDES, HOW could you do that? Many would have potential encumbrances, multiple requests(which may not be valid), etc....

So what are they trying to do? A delayed registration. They try to wait until it will clear, because attempts have ALSO been limited, and then register. IF it is allowed, they get it and, hopefully, give it to you.

The message makes it sound like you did NOT get the domain name! It sounds like it got to the part where they are TRYING to register the domain name, and they are telling you "We are trying to acquire the domain and, until WE decide otherwise, YOU ARE COMMITTED!!!!!! You can NOT ask for a refund, or change the "backorder" request.". After all, OTHERS may be trying to get the domain name. What if YOU get it, and dispute?

It has been a while since I have been involved with the details, but the details have ALWAYS been nebulous! It is active, then expired(inactive), then there is a possible recovery period, and deletion. Are you SURE it hit that last step?

    Steve

From what you described, sounds like it. The domain appears indeed to be in
one of Go Daddy's registrars, so just wait for an email from Go Daddy or so.

Heh, and you're being understandably impatient, I think...

I suggest removing the domain name from your post. If 2 or more people backorder the same domain then it enters a tdnam auction. You may have to pay considerably more to acquire the same name.

The backordering process does take time so be patient. Unless the current backorder is unsuccessful it cannot be reassigned to another domain name.

And if you have a backorder pending now, don't test this untill the name is in your account, or yes, you will get a competitor involved in your auction. There is a way for thephone help to go in after the drop day and add my name to an auction. "because they care about the customers" An agent was soo kind to inform me! And I am now informing you. Godaddy auctions are best enjoyed cold. And they always will be.
