What Type of Product - Ebook, Membership, ?? (Parenting niche)

I've got a product in me that I can't quite seem to envision. I've started it as an ebook, but I'm just not sure that it's coming out the way that I want it...

Basically, it's a product to teach parents of pre-school age children how to help their children learn. It includes activities and why they should do it. It's based on my experience as a preschool teacher.

I'm having a hard time envisioning the format.

Any ideas?

Love,
Shannon

  • To me, that sounds like an e-book (or perhaps a video product).

You could use a membership, but you'd have to be more creative. Perhaps you could drip-feed content based on date of joining. The problem with pre-school learning is that it's a finite process, so any people joining will only stay for a short time.

You might also want to filter information in some way based on the age of the child, and also their learning to date. Pre-school learning for a 2 year old will be quite different to that for a 4 year old.

Another thought, if you develop a range of products you could perhaps move the parents on to products for primary school children, then secondary school children (using UK terminology), so there's the potential for continued sales there.

Splitting it up by ages is a good idea. I think I was feeling overwhelmed trying to cover everything.

    Thanks

Sounds like a perfect fit for a fixed term membership site.

You may want to check out the program at Start A Daycare? No way! Start A Preschool Instead! for ideas. If you sign up for the newsletter you will see some creative marketing. Also, you will get an idea of the kind of products she is offering. My niche is nowhere close to hers but I have subscribed and been taking notes on her approach.

I agree that a micro continuity type site would be a good fit.

Thanks! I'll look into micro-continuity. That's the same as fixed term membership right? If I go age-based, is there a way that someone can start where they are? For example, let's say I've got a program on what to do with your child from 1-2 years old. When someone finds my site, their child is already 1.5. Can they somehow start in the middle.

    Lots to think about.

I'll also take a look at the Start a Preschool program.
