Does anyone know of a good, cheap e-check only payment processor?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so if I post in the wrong section or ask a silly question please bear with me as I get to feel my way around here. Just correct me if I do.

I am looking for a good, cheap e-check payment processor. I ONLY want to accept e-checks through my web site for now. No credit cards.

I have absolutely no interest in using PayPal so don't even bother to suggest it. Amazon Payment Systems seems okay and I am signing up with them but I am mainly looking for a good, reliable, and cheap e-check payment processor.

In other words one that will allow me to accept online checks using a routing number and account number from the bottom of client checks.

That's it. Nothing fancy. Just checks.

I signed with one called Noca but it has turned out to be a complete dud. Non-existant customer support, poor quality web site, mispellings, etc.. I know...I know...you get what you pay for is the oft repeated refrain.

Well...in my life I have gotten much more than I paid for on things and I am looking to repeat the same with a good e-check processor.

Does anyone know any that they can recommend?

I'd appreciate hearing about it.

You're not looking for a good, cheap, e-check processor, you're looking for a lot of good old head aches!

You'll get more non-payments than you'll be able to count.

Thanks very much for your input Pete. I know what you are talking about as I have been reading a bunch of threads here on the problem of getting fraudelant echecks.

But if I am not mistaken one only gets taken by such when one sends out the product bought or gives the service without first letting the echeck clear.

In my case...until I get to know a client well I will not start giving them web development services until their echeck clears. Having an echeck option is also a convenience for some present clients so that they can pay me easier than walking to one of my banks and making a direct deposit into one of my accounts.

Or I may also start work but not release the work until their payment clears.

I will settle for continuing with the process of setting up to accept credit cards through Amazon Payment Systems if I can't find a decent echeck processor. Most I have looked at want something like $50-149 up front which I just can't afford right now.

I'm not selling instant ebooks, products, reports, or the like. I am selling web development services which usually take a while to complete. Time in which their check can clear. And there is much more interaction with clients. Personal interaction which would make it tough for those trying to rip me off I would think.

I've never, ever had anyone stiff me. Never. At least not yet
