Default Is this dead before I start

I wrote a book for a sub of Barnes and Noble but the sub went bust, Im wondering if it is worth trying to sell it on Clickbank.

Problem is as niches go this one takes the cake.

It's about building Upright Electric Basses, is this to "out-there" to be profitable.

Its a huge book (now also PDF) and I know it's good for what it is, a 1000+ page guide with walk-through pics and plans BUT.....Am I the only person who would ever want this.

Hoping people on here with experience with product creation will be able to tell me is this worth my time trying to get it on Clickbank?

Thanks in advance

I'm mostly in the publishing part of clickbank :P but I'll add in my $.02. If you've already made the book and you are planning to either put it on clickbank or scrap it - put it on clickbank. If you're wondering the best means of promotion - please ignore this post entirely, my apologies. Good luck though, sounds like a really quality product to be marketing and selling

Yes I was either going to try Clickbank or Paydotcom but is it a niche that could work or is it to weird for affiliates to promote.

It looked long winded and possibly expensive to get something up on Clickbank and don't want to waste money if it's un-marketable.

Hoping it could work though but it's always better to know the truth from the start

if its an ebook you could try self-publishing model
Sites:
Blurb, Issuu, Lulu, createspace (amazon), xlibris, qoop.
An Incomplete Guide to POD Publishers

I am not sure if it costs extra on amazon to make your book available for distribution via kindle.

I dont know if selling on clickbank involves minimum cost outlay on your part, then self publishing may be the way to go for.

I suggest building a sales page by yourself, get an ecover done, and sell directly on your site, for that you would need digital product delivery resources: digitalproductdelivery.com, e-junkie, payloadz, bubdee, etc.

Give away a small portion of your ebook for creating a email list, who knows later on down the line you could market to them other music related affiliate products.

Contact webmasters of music related sites if they could publish a small piece about your free giveaway, most would be happy to get free content from you, that also something like a free ebook giveaway is a traffic attractor. May be you can set up a JV with them like let them have a cut on every book sold through referral etc.

As you progress and build up traffic, if you are not able to effectively sell your ebook to recoup the costs, sell it as PLR content or start a niche blog and post one chapter at a time.

May want to buy a traffic-bug.com subscription to spread your site address far and wide to reach the maximum corners of the internet.

May also want to create videos about your product and post to youtube vimeo dailymotion etc -since playing guitar is more of visual knowledge people would be more comfortable watching videos than reading an ebook.

If I remember correctly, PayDotCom allows you to have a single
product on their marketplace FOC. It's worth checking out.

You can easily get it on Amazon if you use Create-Space, and see if there's a market for it? Might be better than throwing it away? There are actually some really obscure things on Clickbank, though (but I don't know if they get affiliates).

Yes I'll get making a sales page for it then and the ebook cover. Worth a try anyway.

Excellent ideas.
for freebie report to build a list, make it a brief overview of the content you got.
Do video marketing to also build the list, get exposure.
With the remaining content break it down into weekly course segments and start a fixed term membership site. Provide the content to subscribers with weekly emails.(or twice weekly) The emails could link to a download page, with the lesson in pdf format, video, links to products(use affiliate links for example to soldiering irons, materials) that relate to the lesson.

Hope that helps

Let's look at facts. A keyword search shows quite a few results for variation of the term - for example, upright electric bass showing 12,000 searches a month.

Competition in google - 24,000

It's a narrow niche - but it's an "evergreen" niche.

I think 1000 pgs is too long for one ebook - but I'm not knowledgeable in the niche so could be wrong there.

You have enough material to build a site that would contain substantial information and sell a book, too. I'd take the book apart, use some of the info to build a site - shorten the length of the book and sell it on the site.

You could build a mailing list and run a membership - and do all the other standard IM practices. But you could also build an authority site, promote the site that sells the ebook and once the site is established it could very well be a source of ongoing sales with very little time required on your part.

If you don't want to spend more time on this, contact other site owners in the niche and offer to sell the ghost written ebook to them.

according to google keyword tool there were 210 people searcing for building Electric Bass last month. If I were you I would build a website selling it without affiliates. You seem to know a lot about this, so you can make a few articles on that site as well to drive in the right crowd.

The niche does not sound too competitive. If you see some sales, you can use the profit to incllude it on Clickbank.

If a "real" publisher was willing to take it on and actually do a print run, then it's a pretty safe bet that there's a market out there for it.

The tough question is going to be determining whether the target audience is open to eBooks. If it's something people are going to be building, they might like a physical book they can have handy. Something printed and bound for easy reference. Sure, they can also print out the relevant sections of an eBook, but, for most people, that'll mean they'll have a bunch of loose sheets of paper, which could be troublesome if the instructions are extensive.

My opinion is that you may wish to find an option that lets them choose a digital or printed edition. That way, they could choose the one that is best for them. Of course, if your analysis of the market shows that your prospects are open to digital products, then you may be able to forego a print edition and just stick with a PDF.

If I stuck the whole ebook up as a blog, with google ads on it and that ebay partner deal to display parts would this be a viable method of getting some loot out of it?

This would make for an epic sized blog though (would this cause problems?) but does anyone think this method might work. I've been reading over the ideas so far and there are many brilliant ones but I am looking for something easy and I'd would rather give it away free if it would still be profitable.

Also I want to take this opportunity to say I have been a member of many payed IM sites in the past and never received this amount of help and actual useful advice.

I love this forum, thanks!!

Amazon has some services whereby they will produce and ship the physical book as the orders come in for it, as well as allow for a downloadable ebook. I'll see if I can find the links for you, since I can't remember how I came by this information.

Best wishes.

Default Done it. Hoping for the best

Hi all, Thanks for all the help
This is what I chose to do with it in the end. Build an Upright Electric Double Bass - Guide

I'll probably write 2 or 3 articles linking in and then happily forget about it.
