2 Twitter Accounts.....

2 Twitter Accounts...

There are two twitter accounts, both with a similar number of followers. The followers were "collected" / "gathered" in the same fashion...

Twitter Account # 1

This account is fed with RSS feed of VERY promotional blog posts.. nothing nice about it. Very promo/spammy.

Quite simply, the Tweets were:

Blog Post: Product XYZ review

and recommendations for products

Twitter Account # 2

This account is very connected to it's followers... lots of re-tweets, replies to @messages.. but also a similar number of promotional tweets in between all the community stuff.

And also...Plenty of free content, pdf's etc..

Which one do you think made more money over a 3 month period?....

Peace

Jay

p.s. None of the above are my personal Twitter account....

I bet it would be number two.

Even if they have the same number of followers, I can be pretty much sure that the followers which account #1 has will have mostly bots following him/her while account #2 will have REAL people following.

Plus people don't buy from anyone. Most of them buy from people who either provide value or whom they trust.

So yes, account #2 will make way more money than #1. But you can prove me wrong.

    Cheers

I'm going to say number 1.

I know it shouldn't be like that but I've heard too many times of people who have tested by sending their subscribers more promotions than good content and have made more money as a result.

Edit - Didn't realise you said they had a similar number of promotions. I'll say number 2, now.

    Interesting responses here..

I understand the reasoning behind them, too....

Twitter is an eye-opening study for me. I'm enjoying it. Profitable in many ways, yet still some unexpected results that are giving me plenty of food for thought...

    Peace

    Account 1.

I am on a list for a company that sells computer hardware and general electric appliances. They only send me offers. I never get information about how to use hardware better, or any of that stuff. Just offers. I would not be surprised if they make more money with that approach, and I wouldn't be surprised if your example account 1 did either.

#2> it's actually not hard to get twitter followers with a spammy account since spammers just find you on twitter.

Nobody questioned the ability to get followers with a spammy account.. did they?

I'd go with number 2 also because it is more personal ... more chance for clients.

That's a tough one. I would think the first account would make more in the short term, while the second would make more in the long term. Whether "long term" is 3 months or more is the tough part of the equation, as it would depend partly upon whether the second account is offering a "buy now" type of product or a product you buy when you need it.

Another factor is follower turnover. The spammy-type account is going to have a harder time retaining followers, so the first account will have to be doing a lot more work to get new followers than the second account in order to reach and maintain roughly equal following numbers.

So, the spammy account can't spend as much time providing value as they do trying to get new followers. The spammy account will also have to focus on products with good [strike]conversation[/strike] conversion rates and products which are of a "I need it NOW!" type.

Assuming both accounts have optimal products/services to push for their Twitter methodology, I would give the first account the advantage for the 1st month, and I think that first account may retain an advantage for the 1-3 month period. But, I think that around the 3 month point, the second account begins to overtake and surpass the first account.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

    I say number 1

    BUT

It depends on the targeting/how/where he got those followers.

If his followers are people interested in reviews of different things then nr.1 beats nr.2

Cus' he might get his followers from amazon followers or best buy followers etc...and in theory those people would be interested in promotional/review stuff.
