Selecting a Domain Name

Hi all

This is the first of many posts I hope.....so be kind.

Firstly let me give you some backgound and then the question.
In the late 90's I had a website selling certification(mcse etc) guides. It was going fine but then I stopped (don't ask why......I am still kicking myself ), and am now researching ways to start something up again.
I have since dicovered the internet business to be a totally different ball game.

Here's my question:

I am currently searching for a domain name to use.

In basic English please take me through the steps I should follow to purchase the right domain name.

Use any example since I am not even sure as to what I want to market market.

Thanks in advance.

Craig

    Hey Craig,

Keep your domain name short so that it stays in your visitors' memory. Forget about whether or not you should have a .com. , .net or .info for better search engine ranking. It makes little difference. Try to put your market name or keyword in the domain too.

    Hope that helps

Start with Google's tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

Type in words to find out how many times people are searching for them.

      For example, "web design training".

This will show you all the search results around this search phrase.

If you decide to go into this marketplace, then try to use these keywords in your domain name.

Since you are not sure on what to market, I'd suggest you to do a niche research before you go buying a domain.

Once you're done with your niche research, find a suitable product in the niche which you can promote and do a keyword research.

When you have your keywords, register a .com/.org/.net domain from Godaddy or Namecheap with your PRIMARY Keyword in it.

Explaining all 3 of these in details can take a LONG time. Just look for a free report on niche marketing and that should cover all these basics.

also say it out load a few times ask your friends to repeat it and see if ti's easily understood by saying it ONLY once.

Call them 24 hours later and ask them if they remember the name!
