I am hunting for some ghostwriters, but I am unfamiliar with most of their work. Can anyone recommend a ghostwriter or two who put out top-quality work that will lead a reader to the resource links and perhaps even have them ready to convert into a paying client before even clicking the resource links? Price does not matter. ![]() Allen Graves |

Thanks Adam. If anyone has any testimonials or examples or credentials, shoot them to me in a PM. I kinda want the thread to help those who are also looking for top-quality ghostwriters...rather than turn into a salesfest. LOL (Otherwise the thread may be rightfully deleted) Who have you used in the past that has gotten you some killer results? I have heard of Bev Clement and Bill Platt - anyone else have good experiences with them? Allen |

Nice topic Allen, You know what I'd like to see? What George? Glad you asked. I would like to see examples of what authorities such as yourself think of as GREAT articles. I'd even like to see an ebook by someone I could trust. "Great Article Swipe File." With five star rated articles on different subjects. This may sound strange, but, when it comes to article writing I see what I think are good articles but I can't seem to find any expert opinions on "good, better, best." Or, $5, $10, $25 caliber 300 - 450 word articles. George Wright |

![]() Level 1 - grammar, spelling, etc. correctness - they know what the heck a referent is and use them correctly. (one of the easiest ways to spot a hack because most have no clue). Level 2 - Cohesiveness of subject....do they know what to include and what to leave out, and how to construct a good flow or do they ramble? Less than perfect level 2 - send it back, it's reject. Level 3 - do keywords blend naturally enough that the writing flows as natural with no trace of a word being purposely placed. Prices start at level 3. Level 4 - semantic impact - does their imagery project as supposed to? Do they use hypotheticals when they should be using absolutes? (example - will vs would). Do they avoid subordinating with tag questions or other subordinating words or constructions(It's a nice day, isn't it)? Do they use contradictory imagery (example - trying to portray a woman as astute, but then calling her a "working girl" instead of a "career woman") IF your writer passes at level 4, you have something well on its way to being a spendy article if these issues are dealt with correctly - give them 4 cents per word if their level 1 target is perfect, 3 cent per word if their subject is slightly off track. Level 5 - Logical deduction/induction - is there any faulty logic - unsound premises, conclusions not supported by necessity of premises? Motus ponus argument? (simple logically invalid construction where the conclusion does not follow with absolute necessity from premises) - Logical fallacy (such as fallacy of ommission), etc? If everything to this point is perfect you are looking at paying whatever is asked and feeling really lucky if you get a decent price. HTH

I love it! These are some great points. Not to downplay HeySal's list at all, but the true and final test of an article is its CTR and, more importantly conversion rate. Of course, anything less than HeySal's level 4 is probably going to fail anyway. ![]() George, you are so right. The ghostwriting scene is big right now and, unfortunately, nobody has really set any indystry level standards on writer output. Shame. Looks like it is up to the individual whether or not to seek out a proven, successful ghostwriter. Allen

Well that's where it all becomes extremely esoteric, Allen. Even the most well written of articles sometimes don't do as well as others in conversion. It's not always the fault of the writer - although it's usually the writer that gets kicked for it. There's some stuff that isn't going to sell as well as other stuff, just like there are articles that aren't going to convert as well as others no matter how well written they are. There are a few articles that I wrote that I was very surprised to see convert better than the ones I thought would be the killers. It's not a field that there is any black and white. Sometimes the client messes up with their specs. For example, I've refused to write articles because of the amount of keywords and the choice of keywords they want stuffed into a piece and expect a great article to come out of the mess. It wouldn't have done well and I would have taken the heat for it. Sometimes there isn't just the strength of the market for a particular product that the client wants to think there is, or sometimes the product cover image is garbage. There are a lot of reasons something very well written won't convert well at times. Sometimes articles that shouldn't convert well at all do so just because of the name attached to it. It's a fortunate writer that has such a name for a client. If you don't have the name behind that article, you better hope that they did everything else right because just because something hits page 1 on google is not always a guarantee that sales are going to follow and it's not always any reason that the writer will be able to fix. |

I am not aware of the quality of many writers mentioned here. But I would tip my hat to Tiffany Dow, as previously mentioned. Another writer who is up and coming and has a killer writing style is SMS. That's her user name here in the WF. I don't remember her real name, but her nick name is Oz. She's from the UK. Good luck. |

Sounds like a great topic for one of Allen's "all-in-one" threads -- how to choose a writer. Choosing an appropriate writer depends upon what you need the writer for. (And whether you mind having sentences end in prepositions, the disallowing of which comes from some rather arbitrary and archaic rules. I have to admit that attacking some of those "expert rating" tests had me keeping some grammar books by my bedside for night-time reading. (While I haven't read it, I've heard great things about "Eats shoot and leaves"; unfortunately, I've been reading more mundane tomes.) Effective writing is writing that gets the point across. Proper grammar -- or someone's idea of proper grammar -- isn't the primary issue. The issue is -- does it communicate the intended message. That can happen in a number of ways. I remember being pulled in by Tom Wolfe's breaking all kinds of "grammar" rules in "The Right Stuff." In fact, effective communication -- whether by words or through multi-media -- probably depends more upon understanding human perception than being on top of rules of grammar and being able to define and use a gerund phrase (for example) at the drop of a hat. But if you are submitting to a scholarly journal, or writing a legal brief, or writing for the New York Times -- your writing will be different than if you are writing magazine articles for Cosmopolitan or direct response sales copy. (The main difference between these two populations has more to do with the presumption of writing something "objectively" versus using breezy, personal and emotional components to get the point across.) The highest quality ghost writers I have found were name authors who are willing to do some work on the side. They charge a lot. However, for big biz, it is not that much if they need quality content. Sadly, many people on the internet want to pay fifty cents an hour and later complain about the poor quality. You get what you pay for. |
