Hey guys, So just looking at how people go about their niche blogs. How many keywords do you aim your one website for. For example say I have a website about dog training costs would I just aim my blog for that one keyword? Thanks, Gurpreet |

I guess it would depend on how broad you want your niche. Dog training costs would be much more targeted than dog training, so you'd have to assume there would be less relevant keywords to use. I think as long as you can rank for the keywords, the sky's the limit. |

So I think its best to work at it for one keyword at a time. Rank for a keyword well then move on to the other.

Well, not necessarily. Remember that Google appreciates consistently updated content. What you could do is schedule five blog posts, each targeting a different keyword. Schedule them 3-4 days apart. Then, as they are posted, you can be working on promoting each keywords post via article marketing, social bookmarking, backlinking, etc. |

I would first start out targeting ONE high-volume, low competition keyword. After I've ranked well for that, I'd keep tabs on my Analytics account and see what other keywords my blog is ranking for. Then I'd go after those keywords as well.

Your blog can target 1000000 keywords. Each post will target 1-5 keywords. There is no limit to how many posts you will have. Start thinking about it in terms of individual pages, rather than an entire blog. |

Normally, I used to aim for 5-6 keywords and always, I make sure that I am on top#5 on google for all those & that drives me huge traffic. |

I would never deliberately have more than two keywords per page. One is the main niche keyword, and the other is the keyword being targeting. It would be folly to target too many keywords on the same page, although several more might pop up during normal writing processes, so those would have to be included too, to make sure the article reads well. LSI keywords would have to be considered too. To the OP: If you're targeting niches, and assuming detailed keyword research has been carried out, then use your primary keyword in your domain if possible. You might need to add modifiers to get them in. Then structure your keywords into silos, so that you have a good structure to hang your content on. Target as many keywords as you can handle in the time you have, and still maintain quality. Working on your own, you could do two or three a week probably, and still get on with all your other activities. If you outsource, then your budget will decide on your volume and timescale. i would aim for the top three keywords that are related to the niche for the blog title. Then I will target all the other keywords (in categories) that are related to the niche. For example you are doing "dog training", then your categories keywords should be "dog trimming", "dog care", etc... Of course this can be done by doing keyword research. I use keyword research pro to help me do the research, It is a great tool, and I highly recommend it. Read Keyword Research Pro Review here. I think its not how many keywords you want to aim for, its how niche and deep you want to go? This is the question you should be asking yourself. |

If your main keyword is "dog training costs", your next level keywords might be: hunting dog training costs service dog training costs rescue dog training costs and so on... This keeps the site tightly targeted while still able to reach a broader spectrum within the niche. | |

Start small and go after 100 keywords that are specific to your niche. Use tools like wordtracker or keyword discovery to create a list of low competition keywords. Create one page per keyword and make sure it has at least one picture with an ALT TAG, three outgoing links with your keyword in the anchor. At least 300 characters of content, and then share the pages on social networks. After this to buff up your niche website add videos from Youtube and pictures from SXC. Typically I will promote my new site using PPC until I get a stream of visitors. If you are poor you can use article marketing and SEO to get the traffic. |

I think it is best to focus two keywords for your website in general and two for your squeeze page. And instead of spending tons of time and energy trying to push your website and squeezepage higher in the SE ratings, why not let your articles and/or blog posts do the work for you? You can cast a much wider keyword net with articles, each one in turn aiming traffic at your website. Which do you think is better - a handful of high placed keywords for your site, or dozens of them - hundreds of them - for your articles or blog posts, aiming at your site? Jaye |
