Hello Warriors I will like to chip in a secret that almost no internet marketer is using about keyword research. This is for this forum members only. I will be talking about "How To Steal Your Competitors Keyword without Sweating". This technique really works and saves you all the stress of researching quality keywords. Here are the step by step guide. Go to google and type in your keyword in the search bar in quote e.g "dog training guide" Hit the google search button Open adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal the in another window/browser. Go back to the google search page where you did your search. In this example, our "dog training guide" Copy the url in the address bar. Mine is "dog training" in google search box Go back to the google adwords tool Check/select "Website Content" Paste the link you copied from the address bar of Google search page in the URL bar on the Google adword tool. Click on "Get Keyword Ideas" You will see some rainbow balls scrolling left and right. That is live. You are entering into the secret vault of your competitors keyword rich archive. Depending on your connection, this should take less than a minute. The result will display tons of quality fresh hot, spicy and targeted keywords saving you the headache of keyword research. Click on "Add" on every keyword you like. All your Added keyword will be displayed on the right flank of the Google adword tool's page. When you are done selecting, just click on the export method you want right below your added keyword....txt, csv, cs. I recommend .txt because it comes in the format Google adword likes. All you need is copy and paste in your adword account. That's all for "Google Secret Keyword Vault" Don't forget to drop a thank you. |

Good stuff. Not really new or secret though. Picked it up in one of the first IM videos I ever watched.

This is a good method. However, it only gives you the key words your competion is using, not what key words are actually driving traffic to their site. There are methods that you can use to see what key words or phrases are driving traffic to their site. Locpic63 |

Install the alexa tool bar. Once you do this go to your competitors web site. Click on the graph icon. go to the keywords tab and click it. This will give you the keywords that are driving traffic to their site. Here's to your continuing success! Locpic63

Or you could try using your brain and coming up with your own original ideas. I know that might seem like "work" but I've always found that worrying about my sites instead of some so-called "competitor" works pretty well. In fact, I would suggest that if you ignore the competition entirely and focus on what you want to accomplish instead you will end up making a lot more money.

That said, most folks here aren't looking for awards in creativity, but rather how to rank well, specifically how to out-rank those ahead of you. It's possible to waste a LOT of time and effort pursuing ideas that sound and feel great, but get you nowhere. The reality is that Google is the one who determines what ranks and where, based on their ranking algo. They've determined that those 'competitors' have the 'right stuff' and so it would be extremely unwise to "ignore the competition entirely". Mark

I can't imagine really caring at all about what anyone else is up to. I might check to see if a lot of people are already doing what I want to do but at the end of the day I sure don't let that stop me. I create, I don't compete.

| If you make something original, you won't have competition. This is why I don't care what other people do. Of course originality is a quality which isn't seen much anymore so that leaves the field open for anyone who is willing to come up with something new and run with it.

I never did any keyword research and wouldn't have known how to either. The content just seemed to be what enough people were looking for. Now in saying that Rich, competitive ignorance is certainly not a value in this business, and to keep on top of things I really had to re-engineer a lot of what I was doing to stay competitive. In some of my initial keyword research I discovered my competitors had quite a traffic advantage over the use of a plural version of one of my main keywords. It was a "DUH" moment, and I will now NEVER start a site without competitive and keyword research. My father-in-law used to own a VW dealership and had his best days when the Rabbit came to Canada in the 1970's. It included the first of many automotive engineering designs and was by far, the MOST fuel efficient vehicle available, right in the middle of a gas crisis. He continued to operate his business on the premise of customers having to come to him - for many years past its use. He eventually had to sell and was fortunate that the property his dealership was on, was worth way more than the business he ran down. I remember him saying once he was "only concerned about what happens between these two telephone poles" (pointing to the corners of his property). Rich, your statement reminded me of his that very day.
