set up several PAGES. Each page should be SEO optimized for just one keyword that has to do with your blog. Submit the individual pages to the social bookmark sites and then to the search engines. This ought to give you some excellent traffic within a few weeks.

If you don't want to write a ton of articles you can find some on Articlebase to use as well. There are a few tools that can help you do this on autopilot but you will want to be sure they are targeted for your niche.

Rich keyword articles and bring traffic quickly.

Since ubby4ever asked about blog traffic, how is the conversion rate of blog post? Is it higher than normal html pages?

With lots of traffic to your blog is no use if you have low rate of conversion. I just need to know how others are doing with their blog traffic and conversion.

Also put opt-in form on your blog to collect leads.

BIG TIP 1

Make sure you have your permalinks set so the keywords/titles of your posts appear in the url.

Go to admin panel:

Settings
Permalinks

Under Custom Structure - put this:

/%category%/%postname%/

Do this if you haven't already.

BIG TIP 2.
Put a signature in your WF profile that points to your blog.

you can use Facebook and gather a following in your niche by joining groups and then send them to your blog. It will require time. Of course, you can use SEO and SEM to generate traffic as well.

Get some plugings
like

Google Xml Sitemap

atleast those.

write article and submit to ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, isnare.com etc
do blog commenting at blogs related to your niche
burn your rss feed at feedburner
and do social bookmarking to your best content in your blog (use socialmarker.com)

That would get you some traffic to start with and some good incoming links so your blog gets indexes
