Default To spin or not to spin?

Is there much benefit in spinning articles I have published on my own site before publishing them on article directories? I've never been big on spinning and I don't think it's necessary unless you're publishing to a large number of sites.

I publish my articles on my site first and then on just a handful of directories and 2.0 sites. Seems to work for me but should I be spinning?

Dismal results with JetSubmit...

Posted as many as 8 "spinned" articles with the special syntax needed to create good looking readable variations and this resulted in 9000+ articles getting posted on 600+ article sites in the last 6 months.

I mean, I read through 350 variations of 1 article to check if they looked ok and found them acceptable, not looking like they had been spun by a machine so I believed they would pass the "duplicate content" test.

I even spun the bio boxes!

Result in Google Webmaster tools after 6 month: NOT 1 SINGLE BACKLINK...yet...

I guess Google found the footprint and added it to their "to sandbox" algorithm....

I am pretty sure that spinning articles(required some rewrite) will help you to get more QUALITY links as it is coming from DIFFERENT content - but related to your niche.

You have to spend plenty of time on spinning an article to make it readable and totally unique every spin.

It takes me an hour a 10 minutes to write and spin, but it would take me much longer to write 20 x 400 word articles for different directories.

As stated above. There are a ton of opinions on article spinning that
you can search on. A lot of opinion is based on ignorance rather
than hard testing that some of us do.

My name will pop up more than once in favour of spinning, provided
it's done right. I've been developing spinning software for over five
years now, some for my own personal use, that will never be sold,
and some highly acclaimed versions that I have sold.

My opinion is that if you need less than a handful of unique articles,
EVER, then don't bother to spin. Just rewrite by hand, or use
something like WordFlood. If you need a couple of unique articles a
week, based on the same original, then do spin on the second week,
by adding new variations before you spin. Do this for a couple of
months, and you'll have more than enough unique articles for your
business for the rest of your days. This seriously cuts down on the
original work you'll have to do as you spread the workload over a
couple of months. It will allow you to concentrate in using your
articles, rather than spending time building the foundations.

sound advice from Glenn. Do it by hand if you can, automate it if you can't.

I have a number of spun articles in EZA. I always make sure my root article is a good one, and the alternate phrases I use, are always of high quality.

What do they say is wrong with your articles?

I think that article spinning *is* definitely (as Glenn says) a very powerful thing if done correctly.

What I do is using Power Article Rewriter (but any similar tool, or putting them into spinning syntax by hand, will do) write a replacement for every sentence. I then find 2-4 replacements for most words/phrases in that article.

It takes me about 1.5 hours for a 400 word article, but it means that the articles I get out are good quality and definitely unique enough.

But having said that, I then only used to submit them to around 10 article directories. (I'd submit the original to EZA). Hence I'm now thinking it probably isn't worth my time to spin the articles so much and only submit to a small number of directories.

So yeah, article spinning can be an effective tool (especially if you then use a tool that submits to 100s of article directories), as long as you spin them completely correctly and take your time.

I've seen some videos suggest to simply keep the article as a whole and just come up with 1 to 2 replacements for every (say) fifth word in the article. This definitely will be picked up by Google.

However proper article spinning as Glenn suggests is definitely a good way to get backlinks.

The free article spinner I use is: Easy Article Rewriter - Rewrite Existing Articles With Ease I absolutely love it.

It breaks down the entire article by sentences then allows you (using your BRAIN) to rewrite the article one sentence at a time.

I have found most spinners to boast great results but fail miserably in the end, I'll check this out.

Spinning is only relevant if you beleive in the duplicate content penalty thing.

Personally, I think it's more myth than fact. I just don't
see the logic in taking good quality content, mangling it
to say basically the same thing using different words and
then spewing it back onto the Internet.

That would make syndicates useless (which they are not) -
one example are the "news syndicates". You will NEVER see
news articles being "spun".

Content should be written for humans, not manipulated to
trick the search engine bots. Just my $0.01 (used to be
$0.02 before the recession).

Check out these links about dupe content.

It's fine if you do it properly. You just need a tool that allows you to
use your brain, and the tool to organise the information YOU provide.

I have a Virtual Assistant that does all my article spinning for me and she is excellent. She also does all my transcribing and editing as well.

Machines and software just can't touch the personal touch in my opinion.

I haven't posted enough yet to include a link but she has a word press site with the name virtualpaige.

Go to virtualpaige.wordpress. com

There is one specific rule when creating unique articles and that is to vary the content which you use. I've tested everything. Taking one article and then programming it for spinning doesn't cut it for me anymore. You need to diversify your articles and think outside the box a little. If you spin just one article you'll find that many of them share the same structure which leaves a huge footprint. It's very easy to detect. Work with various blocks of content and intertwine it as well as spinning it and you'll achieve far better results.

Hey, thanks Mark. Glad you like my tool. It isn't a spinner by any means but if you are willing to put a little effort and time in to it, it does make it very easy to quickly rewrite existing articles that WILL pass copyscape 100%. It's not for the lazy marketer but it does save time and does simplify the process. Some of my members have written over 500 articles with this tool so it must work well :-)
