Do Blogs or Wikis Generate More Search Engine Traffic

Say that somebody has approximately 300 original articles that all revolve around a certain niche subject. Has anybody done the research to see if this material would attract more search engine traffic in a blog format versus publishing them in a wiki? When I say wiki, I mean a wiki web application (similar to Wikipedia) created by and hosted by yourself - not publishing your articles in a third party wiki.

Releasing 2-5 blog posts per week seems to be the conventional wisdom as search engines like fresh content. However, Wikipedia is the king of Google rankings.

    It depends on what is done on and off page as far as SEO. A blog could have 10,000 articles but if no SEO is done, if no promotion is done, it probably won't get much traffic. Just having a blog with content doesn't mean it will rank or generate traffic.

    Same goes for the Wiki, Being different sites or platforms doesn't make a difference, it's what else is done.

    Wikipedia is king because it's a huge authority site that is trusted and linked to SO often. It's not just because it's a wiki.

    Thanks for the responses. The magic word count number for blogs used to be 600-700, but I've been reading lately that the latest Google search algorithm updates bumped that number way up to 2,250-2500 words.

    Of course there are other factors that come into play like visitor retention and sharing on social media. I'd like to see some data if the shorter or longer posts are better for those auxiliary factors.

    It's sequential to what the articles are all about, what you did on the sites or platform you choose (lay out, onpage and off page).

    It's just like having 300 products to sell.

    Do you really think wiki or a blog will do you any good if they all can be customised just about the same way but in a different format?

    The exposures each of these can get is what matters. I will stick with a blog.

    YOU generate more traffic than a blog or a wiki.

    There are IMers out there that make a full time living just by pumping traffic to a squeeze page.

    you gotta promote your site, SP, facebook page, instagram account whatever...

    its all about YOU.

    you can do it with free traffic or paid. or both,,,

    Blog are really a great way to drive traffic from search engine. But you have to do a lot work in order to get ranking in search engine result page. Creating a quality content is a very first step and you also have to create backlinks doing some on page and off page seo etc.

    Wiki or blog is also just a channel to do SEO off page, so if you have a SEO plan, you can have a suitable channel to post. And then, it's not important whether blog or wiki, that's rely on their quality and ranking. If they're truth, authority and have a lot of traffic, then your website will have a benefit and also have a good ranking too.
