Almost all individuals believe that a website is a must to start online marketing and business. while some are reserved from insisting this rhetoric. what do you say? Is a website really important to startup a business? if not, what kind of online marketing and business could you do without having your own website?

      actually it works, I have seem some IM just use only Facebook Page. They don't include any website under their page.

      Is kinda pity , I do seem some Face Page their followers is a lot from 50k likes above.

      they just post picture videos, not marketing stuffs. " perhaps they build to sell " who knows.

      Seriously, this is a genuine question. I joined the program a month ago and I have been thaught a lot from the program. I have so many aha moments and everything is amazing but, it is a business and they want you to invest on this and that and I am wondering if investing on a website, like for the domain and hosting, is a good idea? What other alternatives are there if you don't have a website?

      FYI, that is a landing page and not an authority site.

    No not important website for promoting your business, you can promote your business by submitting business info in local listing sites and making page on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn but yes a website helps to improve your business.

    I would say of course you need a website... since I design websites for a living. In serious note, you will have a better chance of making a professional look if you have a nice designed website.

    Yes a website is a must.

    You want a website & social media in place so that you can generate leads and have a place for customers to go to find your business.

    If I want a certain product or looking for information, where's the place you go? The internet right, google?

    You need to start building a brand and having an online presence is one piece of the puzzle to get your ideas across.

    It really depends on what you're selling and who you're selling to.

    You might not need a website if you can sell over the phone initially. Essentially, later on you can build one out.

    In the beginning, it's more important to sell something and prove your concept over anything and everything. Which means you might not need a full blown website, but could use some landing pages - or an autoresponder to do so.

    Remember, we're talking about starting out here - so my answer is no.

    It's like starting a business and buying a bunch of business cards and flyers... It's just a waste of money until you sell something.

    You're not obligated to have a website to get started, but I haven't met someone who was actually successful online who didn't have one.

    Yes, of course, you should have a web site - it goes without saying.

    Why not? It is not hard to make one and you can always outsource the task if you don't know how or are too busy.

    How many professional, money-making businesses (that deal with the public) do you know that don't have a web site? In this day and age it is expected.

    If you're making the decision about what kind of business to have based on finding a model that doesn't require a web site . . . you need to go back to square one and think about your audience and what they want. Find demand and fill it.

    I see that there're many guys can do business online without having a website, they've just have a Facebook fanpage or a store on another ecommerce website such as Blogspot, wordpress, tumblr,...With these self-hosted blog, they can sell many thing such as cosmetric, fashion, shoes,...
    So that I think having website is not a basic requirement to run a business online.

    I remembered a business card in the past (talking about 20-30 years ago) only have phone number, mobile number and perhaps fax number.

    Nowadays, when I look at any of the business card, the phone number is still there but I can see extra details i.e email address, website, whatsapp, skype and sometimes FB Page.

    That explains how things have changed. People expect a business to have web presence at the very least a FB page. So yes, a website is very important to a business for the convenience of customer to learn more about the business, to learn about the product and that will also indirectly influence the way people perceived the business.
