Lots of warnings lately about wordpress and attacks. I've just noticed in a couple of my blogs, which I don't really think they need to have a commenst section, are being attacked.
They seem to be failing miserably so far, but maybe it's only a matter of time until they input a snippet of code that actually does ruin all my hard work! What's the thoughts on this? Close down comments on blogs I rarely attend to? Leave them open and vulnerable to attack? Mark |

Hi Mark
If you rarely attend to your blog then it's best to close down your comments. Back in 2007 I had a decent blog which was growing in popularity, but then I neglected it for about a year. When I came back to it, I had 10,000+ spam comments. There is NO WAY I'm going to easily delete them all! On the other hand, for blogs you look after, I recommend keeping them open, to enable visitors to interact with you and maybe stick around to read more of your content. |

Like Paul said if its not a blog you are attending I'd shut it down. I had a few like that but I wasn't going to leave comments unmoderated and the resulting email notifications were annoying.

Personally I usually use Drupal for sites, but occassionally (like my latest site) I use Wordpress. Here's a quick guide I found to help secure your wp installs:
