Hi guys, are solo ads still worth it? No one says anything about it again.

Not really sure what you mean by solo ad.

If you mean a solo email, they can be highly profitable.

Depends on the quality & responsiveness of the list.

Test as cheaply as possible and make sure your headline is enticing so that many people will at least open the email.

Remember, your job is to get folks to click that link inside that email so you may want to make the email as short as possible.

    and...

    tell them that...

since they already opened the email they should follow through and get the full story etc.

    Hope This Helps!!

    In my experience...

I purchase solo ads all the time, mainly to grab traffic from many different streams... My results are as follows:

A Solo Ad to a list of 14,000 for $150
    Purchased in July 2009
    Received 300 visits from list
    Normal Conversion at 8%
    Solo Ad Conversion at 3%
    Received 9 Sales

A Solo Ad to a list of 140,000 for $15
    Purchased in July 2009
    Received 200 visits from list
    Normal Conversion at 8%
    Solo Ad Conversion at 1%
    Received 2 Sales

A Solo Ad to a list of 6,000 for $500
    Purchased in July 2009
    Received 2400 visits from list
    Normal Conversion at 8%
    Solo Ad Conversion at 12%
    Received 288 Sales

    My Advice:

If you are making a solo ad through an advertised website that you found randomly, do not purchase, results will be limited.

If you research out a list that you know will convert well if you owned it, and offer an X amount to the list owner for that ad spot... you may convert very well

Any tool works if the user knows how to properly use it

    1) don't try to sell in your solo ad. The landing page is selling, not the solo ad.

    2) Selling vs. Building a list <= choose the second one

    3) take care who you place the order with. There is a jungle out there.

    4) test your ad copy first, especially the subject line

    5) if you advertise in ezines, always subscribe before placing the order in order to see if ezine's content is of good quality.

    6) don't advertise in ezines that send tons of ads (i.e. daily) to their subscribers.

    7) advertise in ezines having the same topic (niche) like the product/service you promote

    Etc, etc, etc.

Good post from ezine ads with good advice.

I think the best piece of advice in there is to subscribe to the ezine that you are going to send the ad out in. You will be able to judge whether the ezine owner will have a good relationship with their list or not.

If its all ads then its unlikely that yours will stand out so it won't matter how good your copy is but if the content is good and valuable and you look forward to their emails then a solo ad will perform much better, especially if it looks like a recommendation from the publisher.
