Help! Has someone stolen my video?

hello
i just googled a product i'm reviewing and found a image in google images - screen shot from my video which i instantly recognized and said hey thats mine, my video is on google images = great.

but when i click on the G-image i find that it is indeed my review video but on someone else's channel.
the video still has my in video logo at start of the video and my website at the end.

has someone stolen my video or simply shared it. i did enable sharing but i'm not familiar with how it works. at a glance nothing seems wrong with my (shared) video review, like if it were stolen i'd image they'd cut out my logo/website screens.

could anyone please clarify

thanks.

Did they only share it on their channel, or download your video and re-upload it? If it is the second one, I think they will eventually (maybe already) put a link in description to get traffic for their website using your work.

      thank you for responding.

well the video is the same but the thumbnail is different. the new thumbnail is a screen shot taken from my video (and it looks better).

the video on their channel only has 10 views. it looks like a foreign french site? not sure. but i think i found their facebook and the video shared on there. They have a few other videos on their YT which i assume are not theres. I don't know if they are simply sharing videos to help grow their own channel or do what you say they might do.
I checked out their website/ it's in the same outdoor niche and i'd say it's not very far developed. Quote from their website:

      WHAT WE DO
We offer quality products and services to those who work or practice of outdoor activities

      how does this sound.

      extra info:
my review video is one of only two on youtube and mine is very good video.

so the video is on their YT channel but with a different thumbnail. so does this mean they downloaded it and changed the thumdnail or does youtube do this when someone shares a video?

    I assume this is Youtube?

YT does allow others to embed videos onto other websites. If you have sharing enabled, then that's probably what happened (though I can't know for sure). I have embedded YT videos onto my various websites, but I don't change anything about the video.

yes YT stands for youtube. I think they have just shared it. but i've bookmarked the channel so i can keep an eye on it.

      but

the youtube video thumbnail is different from mine. obviously you can custom thumbnail when you upload your own videos. the only way this new thumbnail could have appeared to my knowledge is A youtube changed it or B someone downloaded the video and took a snap shot.

i'm not sure if i'm panicking over nothing or not.

It should be easy enough to find out if the video is yours or if someone has stolen it. Simply click the "watch it on YouTube" link and see if the link takes you to your video or to someone else's channel. Then you'll know whether or not they jacked the video or just embedded or created a playlist using your videos, which is allowed by YouTube.

I had a similar experience a couple of years ago. Somebody stole about 20 of my review videos and uploaded them them all to their own channel and put their affiliate links in the video descriptions and even edited them into the end of the videos themselves. It really pissed me of too, because a few of them were outranking my own videos!

I'm not exactly sure how I reported it, but I found a way to report the video. I explained what happened to YouTube and gave them links to all of my original videos so they could see that this person had ripped me off.

It took about a week or so, but the channel and all the video were taken down. I never received any response from YouTube, but I'm assuming that they closed down the channel.

YouTube is very good about copyright violations. Find the proper page to report the violation and do it.

the video not on their website.
i found a snap shot from my video on google. so i clicked on the image which had the product name and watch on youtube link.

so i click on the link and it directs me to their channel. the video has different thumbnail too. perhaps to make it appear like a different video.

i also searched youtube for my product review and i found my original video on 1st page and i found my video also on the 3rd page but with a different thumbnail and this video is on their channel.

both video's still contain my logo/website in the video itself. not been edited out.

but the alarm bell goes off at the fact that the video thumbnail has been changed.

i just checked the video quality and the so called shared video only goes to 360 whilst mine goes up to 1080HD.

now i know there are a lot of experienced marketers on here.
does this sound like a classic share or would you class this as a stolen video.

      ps.
that's discusting what that person did stealing 12 videos. some nerve hey

out of interest is there a risk involved in reporting videos.
ie. will those who get reported attempt further damage? or does it put them off.

is there a way to check who shared a video and where? i know you can check share stats in YT but it doesn't seem to show above info.

i think i will report the video anyway.

Why would there be a risk to you for reporting that someone stole your video?

If it's a video that is breaking YouTube TOS then maybe there would be a risk to you.

If that's the case then I would just leave it alone and forget about it.

    And therein lies you problem...

You admit and know you cannot put a legal claim in for a video that you used without permission or licence from the copyright holder of material belonging them...

And now that someone else has come along and basically stolen from you the material you stole from someone else it's kinda hard to complain about it...

The "idea" may be yours but the simple fact is the material in question is NOT yours and thus there is basically nothing you can do about it except perhaps hopefully learn a lesson from it that, When you do something you know is basically wrong, there's no point in complaining about it if someone comes along and does that same wrong to you...

Best just to move on and forget about this one and put it down to experience...

no sorry you are wrong. the video is a product review video created by me. it's 100% my material. i was just a little concerned about taking quick rash actions.

but i suspect it has been downloaded because:
A: the quality is only 360
B: the thumbnail been change like someone may have downloaded and took a shot and then re uploaded on their channel.

i'm going to report it anyway.

If you assume that your video has been stolen than you have to file a copyright violation to YouTube and ask them to remove the video. YouTube is very strict to copyright violations.

Right i've gone ahead and submitted my copyright claim to youtube.

YT asked me for their url of video and mine so thats good. Even better youtube does have a tick box for 'custom thumbnail' - this is where the violation has happened, and the fact i suspect it's been re-uploaded.

thanks for all replies. Lets hope it works out.

      update:

good news, youtube took down the video. It was indeed a violation.
