Wordpress vs html - The turning point (Again)

I've been in IM for nearly 2 years (maybe not being as active as i could be) & I have a couple of funnels currently set up that are totally basic html (WYSIWYG) in pretty productive niches, but, and this is the most important part, they are all profitable, hence, I am now going to dedicate more time to creating more sites and hopefully, making more money and wealth.. Like you guys always say... Rinse and Repeat !

My basic pages are of the formation:

Optin (headline, video, bullets, aweber) > Salespage (Headline, video, copy, bullets, buy) > OTO (Headline, video, bullets, buy) > Thank you (Headline, 'download', optin)

Now, since creating these relatively basic salespages that have been running maybe 4-5 months now, I've moved onto creating some more 'frilly' websites via wordpress and their magnificent plug-ins for; my music shows, consultant business, Advertising Agency and a potential authoritive site for a particular niche i have a passion for... The web 2.0 options are a magnificent addition to WP.

I must admit, despite having limitations, WP is a joy to work with and I believe my earnings per hour (with respect to site/funnel creation) could potentially rise if I started making sales sites using the sleaker, flusher WP.

However, I feel that I would prefer using html (WYSIWYG) as a few of WP's limitations I find frustrating.... html & images, information allignment, in-depth dreamweaver tools, text restricions etc. Take a look at Kern's opt-in boxes, big video with a custom web form to the right... These items, I believe, are easier to create in html (WYSIWYG).

WP on the other hand allows you a template to create an in-depth, creatively aestheticly beautiful site which would mean frames, multiple files on your HD, pages of code etc using a (WYSIWYG) such as Dreamweaver.

Now, I reckon from totally guessing at the WF community, a lot of serious, long term IM'ers who've been online for a while use html (WYSIWYG) for complete control over their entire pages and network within there site. On the other hand, the newer IM'ers are now at seminars and by 'guru's' being told to use WP (on a hosted domain) as a basis for their sales funnels.

Having experimented with, and used (in a proffessional capacity) both platforms, I wondered what you guys use to create your sales processes, and what the benefits/limitations of each of them are...

Also, to all you clever outsourcers who leverage your time with astonishing results, do you ask your designer for a html based site, or a WP based blog site.

Hi Glen

I think you have your answer in your post. Use the format that suits the site.
I agree that WP can be totally frustrating and I now rarely use it. With Css and html you can get something much more professional looking and bespoke.

wordpress gets hacked every day and you need to constantly update or fear getting hacked, and those are just the public hacks/updates. not cool with your money making sites imho.

plus, html pages are tons easier to use with google web optimizer to make test, after test, after test to find the best converting combo

The WordPress HTML filters are seriously frustrating but there's a plugin that deals with them - and it works brilliantly for me. I reviewed it here:

If I run into a site that I can't use Wordpress for I use a wonderful content management system called MODx.

The benefit is you can use any regular HTML/CSS template.. customized any way you want. See Freedom Marketer | Freedom Marketer.

Then you split the HTML up into several sections and insert it into MODx for the template, and you have a site you can manage entirely from a convenient back end. Just like a plain HTML website, only easier to update.

For your sale funnel, you should stick to HTML sites. They are easy and fast to build compared to wordpress. If you want to use wordpress, you have to tweak the codes in Wordpress templates which may take more time.

digitalproductreporter is right about wordpress hacking. Mine got hacked too.

HTML totally....

so let's say for example I wanted the authority site for my niche as a blog with lots and lots of articles (in WP), AND the sales funnel in html 4 page form, where we heading in terms of site structure and where people enter the site ??

(Assuming first word is the site root index.html):


Opt-in --- > Salespage ---> OTO ---> Blog ---> AR ??

Blog ---> Opt-in ---> SP ---> OTO ---> AR ??

Opt-in ---> SP ---> OTO ---> AR (with blog on a seperate site) ??

Whats the best way to send them warm targeted leads who get valuable information from the blog into a sales process.. Do you think people would be turned off by the switch from smooth informative blog (WP) into a blatant sales page... (WYSIWYG) ??

I think you're on the right track. If you keep working with Wordpress, you'll figure out how to theme. Once you do that, you just plug your pictures and copy into your theme and you can wash, rinse, and repeat 50 times a day.

Web 2.0 design is all about CSS. Doing your sites this way will help (a little) with SEO, too. Here's a good starting point:
