Is the Glen Allsopp course MarketingInc any good?

There's a course Marketinginc by Glen Allsopp of Viperchill.

I wanted to get your opinion on Glen and his material and if anyone has feedback of this or other courses he has done in the past.

I'm very skeptical of all the success stories these courses portray in their marketing.

Also, I always wonder if all these "secret methods" are so successful why are they bothering to make the course, surely they are too busy doing that. You don't see Bill Gates running start your own software company courses do you?

So am I being skeptical or just too pessimistic.

Thanks for your answers.

If you are skeptical, and you may or may not have a reason to be, then don't buy it. Don't look at the ad. Don't be tempted. Many of us learned the hard way - by getting the basics and then putting our head down and plowing forward instead of buying every shiny new product with big promises.

Many/most people here are selling the same promises you don't like. It's not the best place to get objective opinions. If that's true, then where do you go to get your advice? Somewhere like Rip Off Reports where everything and everyone is a scammer? That's not healthy either.

Also, would you rather take a course from someone that shows how broke they are? You wouldn't want that but you don't want one from people that say they are successful.

So what is it that you want? What are you looking for or needing that you don't have?

It's wise to go into any purchase or deal with open eyes. It's not normal to be distrustful of everyone while at the same time needing the exact thing they are offering.

Not trying to be negative here just trying to share a little of what I had to learn the hard way.

    Mark

PS By the way, there are many successful companies that share their how to get rich secrets. Ever heard of McDonald's, or RE/Max, or Jiffy Lube or hundreds of others?

"You don't get it, it's not a pyramid scam, it's mlm, it's an upside down funnel which is a totally different shape, you're just afraid to be successful, i feel sorry for you."

    Thanks for your answers.

In my limited experience of Glenn.. I believe that he is one of the most credible people I've ever spoken to in the IM space.

When most will BS you, he is among an increasingly small number who won't.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from him if I felt I needed it.

When he says he's built websites that are worth X million, that's true.

I can second this. I've bought some of Glen's other products and have never been let down.

    MLM?

I personally think it's a bogus business model.

That being said, it's only fair that you read both sides of the argument:

  • Well, I used to read alot of Glen's stuff, and was really impressed by him as a person and how much info he'd give away for free. I saw an email from him this morning from yesterday, which had a video or a link to a video. I'm guessing it's to presell the course you're talking about.

If he is in fact selling a course, I think that brings him down a bit in my eyes. I remember the days when he'd write these giant, super informative posts on Viperchill, and then I think he started letting others post afterwards.

While I do (or maybe now that will change to "did") have some respect for him as opposed to most of the marketing related garbage I see out there (his actual products have seemed to focus on software, rather than info, which is a good thing), I just don't believe it's necessary to buy any information about running a business. There's markets, and niches, and traffic, and ways to make those all work together to make sales. Even if there are some interesting new twists on how to make those sales, why bother with spending money, and possibly having to learn other things when you can just go with what's already common knowledge?

Between years of tons of free information on Warriorforum, other marketing forums, and marketing blogs, it just seems to me that buying a course is a losing deal. By the way, Feedly could be a great way to find blogs about marketing. There's a lot out there.

I understand that... I do see them as an investment.

There are ideas, techniques, things I've learnt from products that I've never seen anywhere else, before or since, that continue to help me to sell more.

Understood, thanks Kay. Even so, it seems to me that the Reviews and Ratings forums is a more specific fit for a question about a specific product . . . but either way . . .
